A rare thing happened last night. I agreed with both Alan Rooney and Ray French when the said our team currently lacks leadership on the pitch. There doesn't seemed to be anyone with enough presence of mind to marshall the plays on the hoof and direct the attack and defence when we really need it.

Having only caught a handful of matches this year I may be wrong so open to you lot, who should be our talisman like captain for next year? Any of the current crop or recent signings? Or someone new brought in?

We've got a lot of youth out there at the moment and I was saying the other day that we could do with a Scarter, a veteran who can lead the troops.

I don't know about that tbh! Players kept heads and defended well despite Roby on Sunday in and last few we've been behind at tines yet reacted well and won them!

If anything people have said we play too strict and marshalled a game plan?

In super league we are going to need someone with experience in my opinion, at that level or greater.

I agree, but I don't think it necessarily has to be someone with vast experience. Tom Gilmore in the limited time he had in the friendlies came on and straight away and barked instructions and wanted to take control of the situation. Danny Brough has always been the same regardless of age. A leader may become better with their decision making with age + experience but IMO we lack someone with that bit of class who has the conviction to take control. Our attacks are slow + there appears to be little structure or plan to them. IMO none of Coyle, Mellor or I'Anson have shown they have enough knowhow when we are close to the opposition's line especially against decent teams. IMO we're more dangerous further out as we do have quite a few players who are capable of making a break like Hulme, Kavanagh, occasionally Coyle + Flynn as well as the pace of Penny (if he ever gets the ball that is).
