Bit of fun...

If you were a referee in each of the three professional divisions of RL could you...

a) Ref the game completely impartial against any side if not in opposition to Widnes
b) Ref the game completely impartial against any side that was playing against Widnes
If the answer was No to question a) who would you have a problem with...

I'll go first
a) I'd have to say No... regardless of whether they were playing Widnes or not I would probably struggle to ref impartially against Leigh. All other teams I think I would do alright.
b) I don't think I would be able to ref any games fairly if Widnes were the opposition. As much as I am a reasoned fellow I think I would favour Widnes in all 50/50s........................... and probably 90/10s against.

I have a feeling I couldn't be impartial to anyone in particular. I wouldn't be able to refereee a Wire match fairly, or anyone with whom Widnes currently have a rivalry with for that matter.

But that's okay. I think when people do referee their home side they often compensate by being extra harsh. English referees when we play the Aussies, always a bunch of big heads who are extra careful not to show any bias. No such luck the other way around.

I spent three years refereeing local st helens and district combination league which was football. Even at that level I had teams I liked better than others but I found that if you saw an infringement it almost became automatic that you penalised it. You forgot what teams were playing in the game and just referee'd it.

I would find difficult as i do not like Warrington,Leigh or Fax.I could not referee these teams and i think the best refs are the ones who do not support a team.Makes me wonder how many refs hate Widnes.
