Quote ="SaintsFan"I think you'll find that probably all Kevin Penny needs is a good team to play with and a coach with time to give. Wire were dire when he was playing there and he got dropped just as he was getting his confidence defensively.
What he will always be remembered for though in SL terms is the try he gifted us at Knowsley Road. He'd just scored a scorcher of a try against us - truly brilliant stuff - and then he gets bigheaded about it, which of course is an invitation to disaster. He defends on his own line, well, and then thinks it's a Wire player ahead of him and throws it to one of our lot and we score from it. From then on in some of the wisecracks in our fans began singing 'There is only one Kevin Penny' and he hasn't been seen at Knowsley Road since, bless him!
I think he's matured a bit now and is probably less likely to boast openly about his achievements. It was a tough lesson for him to learn I'm sure.
He is amazing to watch when in flight though. Just incredible. And I'm sure RL has done him a disservice somewhere down the line.'"
That's just a complete lie. He runs the ball back in, holding it one handed - which you shouldn't do obviosusly, but having an attack of the over confidence that we're all prone to do when we've raced 95m and scored one of the best tries in donkeys years, it's dislodged in the tackle, comes free and Saints score from it. You say that he 'passed the ball' to the Saints player, you make him sound like Mr Magoo who just flung it to the wrong team like the wimpy kid at school who's about to get nailed by the fat lad, who likes Rugby in PE as it gives him an opportunity to shine.
