| Players we lost... Brough, Briscoe, Carvell, Hall, Dixon, Tansey, G Horne and even Lee to a certain extent!
Some of these we lost out on due to other clubs but mostly we deemed them not good enough! Some of these players are ripping it up in SL. Big mistake on our part to let them go? Or good decision at the time?

| Only Danny Brough and Shaun Briscoe would've been worth keeping from that list.

| Hodgson, Wheeldon, Welham, King, Higgins, Lupton, even Thackray at Widnes.
We'd have won SL by now!!

| According to a couple of Friends who a Rovers fans, they said Briscoe hasn't played well for about 10 months. Brough is the only one I regret leaving, we wanted to keep Carvell but he didn't want to stay so how could we have stopped him?

Carvell and Brough would make a big difference to our squad.
Briscoe and Tansey are better players than Phelps IMO.
Dixon would do a decent job on the wing, but Sharp will become a better player.
The problem when we relesed the majority of these players we had a better coach and team.

| I never rated Garahm Horne, but from the way he is playing now it seems that he has had better coaching.
Says it all for me.

| Brough is the only one , where we had a choice , that would actually make a difference and even then probably not with the coach we have.

Carvell?
I know he didn't want to stay but surely he was worth keeping?

| Ahhh, hindsight!
Bad news when Brough was here by all accounts, would have definatley kept Carvs and Briscoe even though I was a big fan of Motu .
Not sad about Tansey, has talent but he wastes it. Phelps is now coming into the line a lot more and will prove his worth IMO.

| out of that list i was disapointed to see carvell, briscoe and brough leave..the rest i wasnt bothered about as i dont think they were making much of an impact at hull...good look to them but it does make you sick seeing brough doing so well when weve been struggling for a decent halfback for years!

| Letting Brough go was a huge mistake, but then who's to say he would have developed at the rate he has if he had remained at FC?
Carvell gave good service to FC and although his exit could have perhaps been a little smoother, he went to win trophies and has done just that.
Was gutted about Shaun Briscoe for a number of years but having watched him this year I'm not convinced he's still the player he was in 2006/2007.

| Hindsight is a wonderful thing, most players tend to play better when they go to new clubs as they have a point to prove.

| I recal Brough was as bad an egg as can be during his time at FC but if this is purely on playing talent then he has matured big time hasnt he!
Carvel has stopped pretending to have injuries thus he seems to be playing better now...
The one i always thought had the talent was Tommy lee, all the talent in the world but chose to be a bar stool instead, however playing better week in week out..
I miss Paul K & Motu too.

| i always rated thakery at widnes he played 2 games in first team played well never got another chance when others got over a hundred games ie lee and washbook and i thought thackery showed more in 2 games to be worth giving more games to see what he could do.

Looked like an exciting off the cuff type of player in the two games that i saw him..was very surprised that he was let go so quickly!

Though seemingly not if they come to us. Perhaps that's because we generally bring in players with nothing to prove..............
and/or they're too old? I can't think of any that we've brought in and improved recently?

| I think it was Peter Sharp who let Brough and Briscoe go. Terrible decisions in my opinion.
He was the only person who thought that Tony was a better full back than Briscoe when Briscoe was clearly a better full back and Motu Tony was a very talented player who could play almost anywhere. If we had kept both these players - and if Motu had stayed fit - we would not have had the problems covering the full back and half back positions that we have had since and we would have had the flexibility of players rotating between hooker and half back that is very much in the mould of the current Huddersfield and Warrington squads.
As for Lee, not sure who the coach was when he left, but I always got the impression that he was playing to orders and not allowed to play to his instincts.

Danny Brough has really developed into a top quality Super League scrum half and fair play to him for that. The drop to the national league with Cas seemed to rejuvenate and spur him on to bigger and better and I am pleased he is in the England squad.
Carvell is a funny one because although he is a quality prop forward I always remember him as been a bit of a sicknote and rarely fit during his time at Hull.
Maybe a bit harsh.

I always thought Brough had the game in him. Carvell was great for us when he was fit, he did have a few injuries but his performances were always very good.
