I have and he still has lots to work on. Still gives away silly penalties and misses tackles on smaller quicker players. He also seems to lose the collision a lot, get turned in the tackle and get a slow play the ball.

I'd say it's more that he deliberately turns in the tackle to look to offload the ball, and losing the collision is the price of this. The key is to get players to follow him in and exploit it, thus cutting out the resulting slow PTB. We don't need all of our props to be looking for the floor every time, the variety will do us good. IMO he's been our best mid-season signing and well worth a place next year on current form.

Turner, FFS pull a sickie and sit at home till September, i have to say i thought he looked real quality for three or four games then he went back to his old self... for someone who came with such hope his defence is shocking and in a fitter squad i am sure he would not feature!!!

Think you've hit one of the problems on head there, but not in the way you've described. He is not a big 2nd rower. According to the FC website he is a full stone lighter than Tickle and 2 lighter than Manu despite being taller than both. That's why he looks like a poor man's Danny Tickle when trying to play the same barge- role. We need to get more out of his footwork and hands than brute force IMO.

That could be a very valid point and I accept what your saying , he is most certainly not a tough guy smash and barge type 2nd rower but i am certainly not seeing the ball handling loose forward style some say he has in his armoury and feel if he has this sort of skills then its time we utilised it as he isnt an impact player is he

Other than dropping the ball / allowing it to bounce, the winger is usually the one who can do nothing about the impending try due to the poor defensive effort in field. Are you saying Briscoe spilled more than Sharp last season?

You keep saying he will never be world class. I haven't seen anyone claim he is world class. He also doesn't have HUGE flaws in his games.

You're getting me all wrong here. I dont blame any player for a defeat. Last year people were saying get rid of Sharp when Briscoe was a worse offender.
Let me get one thing clear, I am not saying we should get rid of Briscoe. I like him and think he is very good but he's not as good as some on here make out.

Turners become a bit of a scapegoat since he signed for sts. I still rate him highly he's got good pace, footwork, scores plenty and is storng in the tackle. Will be missed next year imo

Why? Plenty of us thought he was bobbins before then, too. The only people who will miss him are the opposition centres.

I don't think I've been watching the same Liam Watts. Since he came to us, he's been one of our better players each week. He'll only keep improving under Peter Gentle and he's a guaranteed in the seventeen, if not the thirteen.

He is not strong in the tackle. His poor tackling ability and his struggle to read the game in defence is why he is often unpopular on these boards.

He is good in attack, no doubt, as he runs the ball strongly and has pace, but is massively let down by the other aspects of his game.

That goes for Pitts as well, been a good signing for me.
