| Quote ="@airlie_bird"So we have a thread that questions the ability of our coach but that drifts to the fact we have little atmosphere at home games.
First and foremost the romantic notion that the Boulevard was the most atmospheric stadium ever has to stop. Big matches yes. But not all of us stood in a wooden stand. In fact if you look at our attendances the majority didn't stand in a wooden stand. I can certainly remember days when there was less than 4000 there and it was like a library.
The atmosphere was generated by a feeling of confidence in those lucky enough to wear our famous kit. If we felt they were giving it their all for the cause then we responded. Even some of us who didn't stand in a wooden stand.
Moving back to Radford and co. We have steadily (some may say rapidly) declined since that big day in 2005 & the days when Sharpe took us on a magical road to Old Trafford. Our coaching set up since has been a joke. First Agar who simply carried on the decline. Assisted by local boys. Peter Gentle was brought in and some argue he was dire. I rather think he was setting us on the right track. 6th spot in the league and a cup final. Not too shabby.
But he was ousted for club Hull. Where has that got us? We have a coaching team now that has so little experience of the outside world. Radford may claim to know something, but he's been at the club for 8 years. Last knows very little away from HFC and Horne and Cooke (yes I include him as well as he is "developing" our dual reg players and involved in analysis) they are all Hull FC and lived through the years of decline.
The only glimmers of hope we have seen where with "outsiders" Sharp, Gentle and even Kear. Now ditched for club Hull where the personnel change but the predictable play, the apparent (at times) player power, the general dirge that we are now so used to never changes. It's time to wake up to the reasons why.
We need a complete clear out of the back room staff. This isn't Liverpools boot room of the 70s and 80s Its an inexperienced bunch of local lads who yes have the club at their heart, but they are not equipped to lead us forward.
Legends of other clubs move away to see how things operate elsewhere. Peacock (who may or may not succeed at Rovers) will bring in fresh eyes and ideas to their set up. He will learn his trade and one day end up either at Headingley or Odsal if not Red Hall. Francis Cummins do the same. Powell went round the houses before landing on his feet at Cas.
At Hull FC though I wouldn't be surprised to see Yeaman given an extension to his playing contract and a coaching deal.
It's narrow minded and doomed to failure. Until someone on the board recognises that we will be forever bottom 4 if not worse with us all just living in hope.
I've seen some on her and Twitter claim we are the most fickle fans in RL. 12000 last week says we are not. We'd have stopped attending matches long ago with the dross we have been served since 2006. We care probably more than most. Sadly though it is last chance saloon for the club and especiLly AP from here on in.'"

| Quote ="HFC Boy"We are a fickle bunch . Old Faithful my arris !!
Our home support is terrible. I much prefer away games .
The old tribal support is evident . At Cas on Friday the support was excellent. At the KC it is souless . Against Catalan it was lunar !!
Talking to my mate last night who is a robin and he said the crowd beat Saints. You could see the fear in the Saints players .
We had that , but not now . Teams enjoy the sanitised, friendly atmosphere at the KC .
We must start to crank up the KC atmosphere. Where are our flags and banners ! Look at the Cas end on Friday , the whole top of the stand was adorned with flags and banners of support .
Let's make the KC a fortress. A few rounds of half hearted Come on you ull is not good enough !!'"
Oh dear, these are the sort of comments which state that certain individuals actually think the crowd makes any type of differance to the result....trust me, they dont.... dont forget a decent london team finished 3rd afew years ago averaging about 2500, whereas as e london team finished bottom with the same average

Quite brilliant.
Posts like this do make me hope Pearson does read our ramblings.
(But the wooden stand, in the early 80s, was quite simply the foundation of my formative youth. There has never been anything to compare to that atmosphere since, frankly. Learnt a lot about life in there as a teenager after watching the ecstasy opposite enviously as a child next to my Dad in Best stand. But that's another story.)

I would hope that if he is, AP has told Radders that this is what's happening. On the other hand I hope he's just coming to watch the match. Not exactly got a top notch coaching record has he?

I am honestly not being dismissive of the little wooden stand, but there is a lot of bull written on here about it. To many of us the Boulevard was not that stand. Some of us actually never watched a game from it. We were behind the sticks, in best stand where ever. To read this forum sometimes you'd think there was only ever one side to the Boulevard.
The foundation of my youth was made in front of the scoreboard. My mates had family gatherings at Easter and Christmas. I had a family gathering every other Sunday during the rugby season IAKOW in front of the scoreboard. It was what made my youth (I say youth I started aged 6) so enjoyable. I didn't get pocket money. We didn't have fancy holidays. I had the Boulevard and the RL grounds of Northern England.
I can honestly say the only time I wish I'd been in that wooden stand was when we collected the championship trophy in 1983 and the Hakka was performed in front of it. Other than that I loved the ground where we stood behind the sticks. It's where I saw the last match against the kiwis and its where I will always recollect the good times and the bad supporting our club. It's a shame my boys never got that experience but hey life goes on and I'd rather be at the KC than a run down boulevard.

Good post and it illustrates that we all have our different memories of the Boulevard. Many still yearn for the Threepenny Stand, you and I both had our own favourite places but the one thing we all had in common (and still have) is the team. Bad as times are at present, we need to stand behind them and give them all the support we can.

| Some interesting stuff from the FC voices meeting with AP
AP still committed and is staying
Still backing Radford and believes he will turn it around
Doesn't believe an advisor will help.
Certain people at the club are letting Radford down
Taylor had signed for next season
Paea about to start contract talks
Centre a priority for next year.
Tried to sign Campese and gale, but happy with our halfs.
Gentle made AP pay off lynch to sign Miller.
