Agreed Mrs B.
I'd be very surprised if they allowed drinking again. There were a number of incidents which led to the withdrawal of the privilege last season.

I'm very much in the no drinking camp as well. It's not just the standing up to let people out, but you then have to stand up again a few minutes later to let them back in. This happens often enough where I sit even without allowing drinking in the seats.

I wouldn't see a problem with that. I don't see why it would have to be a case of one or the other. I don't drink at games most of the time, but sometimes I like a drink. I can see why people get annoyed when they have to keep getting up. If the average drinker goes to toilet once during a game, and you're on a row with 4 people drinking, that's 8 times a game you're getting up. And that's generous for some people who do that on their own! Kind of annoying for those that just want to sit and watch the game. But if there was a section for those that wanted a drink, then people can't complain if they're sat in it (plus that's where you keep the most stewards then because chances are that's where most trouble causers will want to be, which is not me saying that drinkers are trouble causers but trouble causers tend to have had a drink so they're more likely to want to be in that section).

Yes. If one person in the row gets up twice, that's 4 times a game. You can multiply that by at least 3 where I sit. Not to mention beer-showers when we score. Was much, much better last season without it.'"
Let's ban kids old people and pregnant women then , because they all have to "go" more frequently than average. I've even heard of people drinking either in their own homes or in the pub before the game. Now I'm no urologist but I don't think I'd be taking the P to suggest that those people may just have an equal need to use the facilities during the game. In fact if you think about it the chances are that someone having a pint [ijust[/i before the game in their seat - and so perhaps finishing it during the game is more likely NOT to need the loo until half time or maybe even full time. Those throwing it down their necks cos KO is approaching or having had 4 or 5 in one of the many watering holes around the ground are in fact more likely to be , literally , p1ssing everyone off. The going to the loo argument is spurious. A decision to stop drinking in the seats can only be based on the liklihood of people spilling it over everyone - hot drinks are worse - or that the very act of having a beer in your seat rather than somewhere else actually causes or leads to trouble. Does it?

No it isn't. I can categorically state that I had to get up less times last season than the previous one when drinking in seats was allowed.

That, and spoiling other people's enjoyment of the game by getting up and down more frequently, as referenced in the response above. The row behind me consists of 6 blokes who drank in their seats. I, my daughter, and my husband have all been recipients of a beer shower during the "beer in seats" era. None of us have received the same drenching, or in fact any drink spillages, from cups of tea or hot chocolate, either before, during, or since.

So why did we revert to no beer in the stands, then? Simple question.
It's clear you want to drink in your seat. It's clear to me that people drinking in their seats compromises my enjoyment of going to the game, through a combination of getting up and down more often and getting regularly showered in beer. It seems likely you will get your preference. Had I been aware of this, I would have changed our seats.

It's highly likely there will be drinking in the stands again this season. It worked well at the International and they sell a lot more beer.

What's the matter? Can't handle the fact that for some people it absolutely is a pain in the @rse getting themselves and their family covered in beer when FC score, and getting up and down far more frequently than when beer is not served in the stands? Why should I say it's a brilliant idea when for me and plenty others it's patently not? You're getting your way on this one. Doesn't mean it it pleases everyone.

Are you really saying that you get covered in beer every time FC score? Really? You must be either in the most exciting part of the KC or in the failed AA stand or in a parallel universe where FC score quite a lot and fans get excited! I have never been drenched by beer or for that matter anything else at the KC. The girl that occasionally sits in the adjacent seat eats crisps and other rubbish for the whole game generally without ever closing her mouth and has to stock up on coke and other cr@p during the game. Jeremy Clarkson's solution would suit me in her case but I regrettably have to put up with her. The solution to your particular problem is either to point out to the drinkers that spilling it at these prices is stupid ( as the recession bites things will improve ) or to move seats. As with most things it's the people rather the guns they own , the cars they drive , the beer they drink , the team they support etc that are the problem. I just think that your idiots spilling drink over you every game , well once or twice , shouldn't be the reason to stop sensible people having a beer in their seat.
You didn't respond about the pre sitting in the seat drinking and bladder control in general????????

What and not go to the game? So essentially on match days don't drink? My point is that drinking at home before the game - even water , tea , coffee , coke etc , or in the pub or anywhere else only has the same effect as drinking at or in the ground in terms of people going to and fro from their seat to the loo. I said before that prices and quality are for me the thing that stop me drinking in the stadium but I haven't seen or heard any evidence or argument that says drinking beer in your seat causes any problems at all or is any worse than drinking anything else - drunks and anti social types will drink somewhere else before the game or in the concourse but unless you introduce a rule that dictates you cannot leave your seat once you're in it people will do so. I accept some people just have a problem with drinking , full stop , and that's fine if they want to lobby to have the KC alcohol free. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever to stop people having a beer in their seat.
