The system would know if a card had been swiped for a particular game, if it hadn't then the ticket office (or system itself) could either issue a ticket (which will still be needed as cash on gate will have to be retained, even with swipe passes) or the card could be double/triple swpied.

There are card scanners in the East Stand, and have been for well over a week since the Norwich friendly, not sure on the South or West though.

There are systems been installed that will link everything at City together, so the different departments 'speak' to each other, these will be complete by the end of the month.

defeats the whole idea then, usually installed as a cost cutting measure, it's just technology for technologies sake otherwise (IMHO)

unless of course they're swiping when people buy merchandise etc. and also tracking at what time people enter the stadium.

And will need to facilitate pay turnstiles, or would you make everyone obtain ticket inadvance, negating any possible walk ups?

Been done elsewhere, the adult turnstiles have no operator and only accept adult season passes, the concession/student/child are manned (and cash)

My student pass says I'll be required to have ID with me to prove I'm a student and haven't just bought a cheap pass. They've done it because it means that shop spending is easier to track, and it's easy to allocate offers to relevant supporters, so they can see what time supporters are entering the ground so food offers can be made and there are other benefits that come with it too.

Something similar at Headingley I think, a combination of barcode readers which are automated and manned/pay turnstiles.

Bit of a shambles really over 23,000 season tickets between the two Clubs and The Stadium Management didn't realise it would be advantageous to have a machine for making the cards at the Stadium and to save cash didn't bother to get one. They all have to be sent away to be made, like City fans no doubt we willl be getting a receipt and get the card later.

I could have sorted the system and 3 card printers for £8,000 all in (assuming it's a swipe system and not a chip/contactless)
