Any news of France or Ireland?? Just seems unprofessional, IMO. But, then again, this is RL!'"
I'm struggling to see exactly what point you are trying to make here, apart from simply taking an opportunity to have a pop at the RFL. Perhaps you'd like to see the logo change to a pair of crossed whippets surmounted by a flat cap? We could also, as I suggested earlier, rename the competition to the Rugby League Let's play in Our Back Yard Cup
Are you complaining about these games being played in Ireland & France because you can't afford to travel to a match that you really hoped to see on British soil, if so which ones are you concerned about? By taking the grand total of five group games away from heartland areas, there is an opportunity to introduce the game to otherwise sceptical spectators. The France & Ireland venues will also surely guarantee better attendances than if they'd been played on British soil, they could also be seen as a reward for development so far and an incentive to other towns & cities away from the heartlands. Bristol did not spend money on a bid just to ignore the event when it happens, we should be thankful that a major UK non-heartland city was prepared to put such a professional bid together. On Monday night, the local BBC news programmes (radio & TV) featured the event, as did the [url=http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/Bristol-s-match-World-Cup-Rugby/story-13977323-detail/story.htmllocal newspaper[/url. I'll certainly be going to whatever match is played there.
As I said, I really fail to see what your problem is

| No problems with the venues and as already mentioned France have supported their international RL very well over the last couple of years. I think Tommys point is more the inaccuracy of the actual logo, it is misleading for the casual observer.
Replacing the 'England and Wales 2013' with 'GB, Ireland and France 2013' would seem far more logical.

Eh? Whippets? Flat caps? And when did I talk about my own financial issues? It's not about what I want at all!
I merely think it's unprofessional to state that a World Cup is in England and Wales when, clearly, it's also in other countries. I'm more then happy for RL is developing elsewhere, be it Bristol or France, or Ireland, or where ever.

I think it'd be unprofessional to pass up opportunities to utilise more suitable venues just because a while back they saddled themselves with the 'England & Wales' tag. The RFL have made the smart business decision. Good on them I say.

Ok. This is said plain and simple. I think it is a good thing that the World Cup is played in various suitable areas to develop the wonderful sport of Rugby League. I just think it would have been better to market this properly, so France and Ireland were also involved in the name of the competition, meaning more people recognise their involvement in the sport.

Nope. Constructively discussing the name and whereabouts of the thread topic. If you dont like it...

| I don't disagree. I'm guessing that at the time they came up with the 'England & Wales' thing they weren't considering playing anywhere else. What would you call it now, given that there are 4 different countries hosting games? The England, Wales, Ireland and France RLWC is a bit of a gobful.

| Perpignan is less than 2 hours away by plane , The crowds at Les Dragons have been good again . I think it would have been an opportunity missed had the RFL ignored this area of France.

Probably right, but I would argue then that the considerations to play in countries other then the host countries was poor planning .
Maybe World Cup Europe? I don't know. Just think they should be involved 100% or 0%, so either name them as a host country or don't play the matches there. Simples.

KC's Rugby League World Cup semi bid set to be snubbed?
www.thisishullandeastriding.co.u ... story.html
Quote HULL'S hopes of hosting a 2013 Rugby League World Cup semi-final have been thrown into doubt, the Mail understands.
The KC Stadium had been widely expected to be one of the two semi-final venues chosen by the RFL.
However, sources have told the Mail that now appears in doubt, as officials seek to ensure maximum attendance and publicity for the competition.
The Mail understands Old Trafford and Wembley are presently fighting it out to stage the final.'"

Yes, let's put it in a small stadium that sells out quickly and leaves loads of unhappy punters, but at least the RFL can say they sold out the semi final. or, as bleeding usual, give it to Wigan and Huddersfield.
Alternatively, let's go for the Stade de France (capacity 80000) or the Westfalenstadion (80720). Those empty seats will do the sport the world of good.
RFL and events in breweries spring to mind.

Really don't understand it, surely the KC would sell out? I know we are out on a limb a bit at the end of the M62, but with two Super League teams chances are it would sell out. Did the NZ game?

Completely agree Mr Fisher.
Just looks stupid to have "England and Wales" in the logo if it's not just England and Wales.
That doesn't mean I (and yourself) think it's stupid to have games played in France and Ireland (people using that as an argument have either accidentally missed the point or are intentionally avoiding the point). It means that they should either stick to what they agreed or change the logo to suit.
"GB, Eire and France" covers all four countries and uses just as many letters so would fit the logo just as well (OK, there's an extra space and a comma). If think it's better to be a bit long winded but accurate than it is to be short winded and inaccurate.

Could be some thing to do with always having to traval to our Finals, Headinley,'Main Road ,Elland Road and Wembley .
Some of these to play teams less than 20 miles away from the venue.
Even for local Derby's this for over a 100 years

| Final will be Old Trafford and semi should be a double header at Wembley hopefully. Quarter final venues already decided so looks like it will only be a pool game at the KC. If that happens to be a big game all the better. I heard them banging on the radio that the KC would deffo sell out a quarter final game - why would that be the case the last world cup quarters had 3 crowds of 5,000 and 15,000 for the England game? And the England v NZ 4 nations game didn't actually sell out? We do pretty well as far as the 4 nations goes so I will take that and an Exiles game.

Wembley double header would be financial suicide. 40000 max at £10 a ticket as opposed to 50000 at Galpharm / KC / JJB etc over two days at a minimum of £20 on average per ticket. More if they used a Manchester City's ground or other northern football ground.
I am fiercely pro the game in London but we need full stadia for the semis and the final.

| Remember Wigans owner saying they told rfl not to give them a pool match as they wanted at least a quarter or semifinal game. Hence they didnt bid for a pool match and they will be given a top game.
