With no fee and Leeds looking to keep him, why else would they let him go halfway through the season?
=#0000FFLink also mentions he was Ellis's protege. Wonder if the speed of this is the result of Ellis mentioning him to Hull, initially for next year - now brought forward because of the current situation?'"
I've been thinking about that, and if there's any truth in it I don't think it can have been for that long, really. Pitts will have only been 16 when Ellis left Wakey and Ellis had already left Leeds by the time he went there. So there might have a been a bit of interaction at Wakey when Pitts was in the youth setup there, but IIRC wasn't Ellis mainly a centre and occasional stand off when there? Can't really see him working with the young forwards too much then.

| When he broke on the scene at Wakey he looked the best young forward about, his career seems to have stagnated slightly, hopefully a move to us will get his career back on track, decent signing that could turn into an excellent one.

think with regular first team game time he'll shoot up the stats charts

| I hope he does well, from everything I've read his attitude seems very good and he's still ambitious.
Good move for all concerned. When everyone's fit Pitts struggles to get a game for Leeds, and I think he's got trapped in a bit of a vicious cycle of playing the odd game here and there and sometimes understandably struggling when he does play. He's probably also suffered from Leeds not being quite sure whether he's a prop or second row.
He may not be the only departure from Leeds, as we still have IMO a couple too many 'squad' forwards who's places would be better taken by the next generation from the U20s.
Also good to see that Hull are recognising the value in getting good British players signed up. I'd far rather see the likes of Pitts playing regularly in SL than some marginally better Aussie.

I agree entirely will be a good signing for us and will only get better with game time which eluded him at Leeds.

If leeds were looking to keep him they'd have kept him. He's been there 3 years and made only a handful of 1st team appearances whilst leeds have brought through plenty of other young players in the same period. If they felt he was top class he'd still be there.
We've signed a leeds reserve grade player who may go on to be a decent player for us but who is a poor replacement for either moa or o'meley at this stage of his career.

Nowhere but it seems likely as the club have stated they see him as a front rower. Sometimes you have to read between the lines coddy. I'll put some more basic things on so you can keep up next time

Perhaps he's been signed as the extra prop we've been lacking this season in order to give us more depth next year.

| Any fan who thinks O Meley is average can't have watched any games this season. So far this year he has been excellent, will be a massive loss when he goes.
Think of the best prop in the league and compare their stats, I'd bet there isn't much between them.
However I feel that he is picking up a few niggling injuries and will be on a very large wage, so he may be sacrificed.
If he and Moa goes we need to sign a impact forward like Moa or Paea from the NRL.
Hopefully one of them will stay and I will be very happy with our pack.

| I honestly can't say I know to much about Pitts other than I believe he was highly rated when he went out on loan to Wakefield a few years back. However he's been at Leeds and their recruitment of young talent is superb IMO so he will have been well coached from a young age. We haven't done to badly over the years in taking on their cast off's. The likes of Carvell, Raynor, Dowes, Lupton adn Scruton have all made decent impressions while playing for our club, I'm hopeful he'll do well for us.

Exactly. If it turns out he actually replaces Burnett it's an improvement.
I'm hopeful that we'll keep one of Moa/O'Meley and bring in someone else.

| Strange signing for me this one.
I've always seen him as a backrower, perhaps lacking a bit of size for a prop. It seems like Gentle sees him playing there, perhaps as some have said, trying to forge a more mobile pack. Plenty of potential though, but we have potential here already with Green & Bowden.
He's also well known at Leeds for having a bad attitude, spitting his dummy out on a few occasions when things haven't gone his way - hopefully he'll leave that in West Yorkshire.

| i wouldn't be suprised if ellis gets move to front row next season...esp as gentle wants a more mobile pack. pitts is a good young english forward, who has had alot of s.l games under his belt, mainly loaned to wakey. ive got a mate at whos a leeds fan, and he rates him highly, and with the way gentle works his magic with players, i think pitts will come really good.
well done fc,

Pittsy and I both coach juniors at Shaw Cross (albeit different age groups) and he has always come across to me as a very serious and committed player - hje certainly looks after himself and takes his performance seriously.
He has had a bit of a rough time at Leeds - they promised him a lot but haven't given him a lot of game time. I think any player would struggle to be happy in such circumnstances, and I think he will be a big asset to us.

Fair post. I don't think there's any questioning his commitment or his desire, more prone to the odd lapse where he's spat his dummy out when things haven't gone his way. Like I said, hopefully this is all behind him, and the lack of opportunities at Leeds won't have helped.
Great set up at Shaw Cross btw, played against you lot in a friendly around this time last year (pretty sure we got hammered ).

I know you and I haven't seen eye to eye in the past adn I don't want another slanging match, but you cannot be serious about that O'Meley comment.
For Me O'Meley and Lynch have been comparable this season.

Quite a class half empty point of view.
Leeds have just re-signed Peacock for two years. He is their captain and is a shoe in for a starting spot.
Leeds also have Leuluai, Bailey (irrespective of what you think of him, he is Leeds through and through and is there for his career), Daryl Griffin (who has played for England) and Richard Moore.
Despite this competition for places against more experianced players, Pitts has featured in over half of the regular season games for Leeds over the last 3 years.
Is Pitts the same as O'Meley or Moa? Not yet. Its rumoured that one or both of Moa and O'Meley may not be here next season, so this could be seen as good succession planning by having Pitts learning from O'Meley and Lynch, getting to grips with set plays in advance of next season.
As has been mentioned, he could be the next Carvell.
