Any rumours linking us with forwards for next season?

We're sure going to need a couple, the way our squad is shaping up!

Chris Green has been going well at Doncaster, think we may go with Manu, Tickle, Westerman & Green in the back row, with maybe Kent and Cunningham on dual contracts backing them up.
As for a prop, we may well have to look at paying a fee to get a release for someone early.

I don't know how good/ready Green is but having only those 3 for the backrow (as good as they are) is a concern when injuries hit.

Props are going to be very hard to find and IMO we look a little short there too.

I'm quite happy with our signings so far and our 1st choice starting pack is very good indeed but I just hope that we're not going to go into next season with very little forward cover.

Props - Ogre, Moa (hopefully), Radford and Dowes.
Backrow - Manu, Tickle, Westerman

Possible backups - Green, Aldous, Kent, Cunningham, Washbrook and Burnett.

I would like one more foward minimum so that we had more experience in the back up department.

Those academy players that you list Paul, are not genuine forward cover for a side that wants to compete at the top of SL. If we have as few as 2 or 3 injuries at the same time, we are completely up the creek.

You mean like Wigan who last year whilst winning the GF and topping SL were using players like Farrell, Tuson, O'Carroll, Prescott, Marsh, Charnley etc etc.

Exactly! You're genuinely happy to go with a bunch of young unproven forwards in our squad?

Do you honestly think that they're as good as Wigan's, Saints' etc...

But I just cannot agree with you.

Exactly Paul, and how many posts do we get slagging the club off for not promoting youth.

There is a fine balance to be struck and that squad of forwards is not at all balanced for a side that wants to be the best.

Who knows if they're good enough, they're undisproven too

Wigan tried, and it worked for them. Who's to say it won't for us?

We don't know until they are given the chance. We are not going with just unproven players, we still have plenty of experience in the pack and we still have signings to make. Add to british forwards to that list and our squad is complete and in great shape.

We need to wait and see. Not optimistic btw, it does worry me about the pack as it's been our strength but we will know better come end of the year.

but these youngsters need to be given an oppitunity now if we are going into next season with the idea these kids like kent ect are going to be getting game time they need to be tested now

Cunningham and Green are injured.

I don't see the need to play them now, there's still a league and cup to compete in, don't get me wrong if we get injuries I'd throw them instead of changing the team about.

As per our discussion last week. We want a strong squad but we also want to see young players given a chance....

I agree Paul. That's the point that I was making. Two decent British forwards and I would be very happy!

I also hope those academy players are all ready and prove to be great additions.

cunningham and green havent been injured all year, just becuase where still in both competitions dosent mean you cant give some game time to some of the younger lot. but throwing young ones in when youve got injuries ect isnt the answer the best way to see the best of the kids is wehn there playing in a full strenght side like we have this year

But they get their chance when injuries accur.

I can't imagine the uproar on here if Tickle was dropped for Green and Green has a stinker and costs us the game and maybe a play off place.

Green will get his chance as will Cunningham, Crooks and the rest of the young players if their good enough.
