You need to give it a chance to grow on you. It is a far better product than RL2, yes the graphics are not great but you can have the best graphics in the world but if the game sucks it wont make it any better. Give it a chance and make sure you use the nunchuck/wiimote combo rather than the controller and you will soon start enjoying it.,

And therein lies the problem!! The graphics are rubbish but looking beyond that, the gameplay is far worse!! I was thinking it may be better with just the gamecube remote but the wiimote or the nunchuck/wiimote combo are both awful!! Every single aspect of the game is terrible and the sad thing is yes we've waited so long for an RL game and we are supposed to accept this!!

You get better flash games on mousebreaker than this for free!! This cr@p is £40 which makes it £39 plus petrol too much!! Worst game I've ever paid for! FACT!!! if it was FIFA and was this bad I'd be angry, what makes RL3 so different??

IMO the only people with the potential to produce a truly great RL game would be EA Sports, but apart from a couple of games for the PC/Megadrive (i.e. a very long time ago

), they've apparantly never shown any interest in making one.


Incidentally I haven't noticed an RU release by them for two years either, so they've maybe just given up on rugby games full-stop now.

Thats the reason I held back on buying it, I had a feeling that it would play the same as the previous 2. Graphics wise, they might as well released it for the gamecube, as for gameplay, it seems like its stuck in 2002.

Exactly right!! This game is simply RL1/RL2 but with updated teams (barely) and a, quite simply, AWFUL control system. It just doesn't work, and the amount of glitches with it is quite embarrassing for the makers!!

Liked the last ones, just never got time to get into it. I sort of forced myself of Championship Manager 10 years ago and now can't get back into these types of games! They've advanced too much for me!

came yesterday, not as bad as people make out, after all, its only for light hearted fun, getting a hang of the remotes is a bit tricky, using the nunchuck and remote it sometimes seems too sensitive when passing the ball left/right

there is one major flaw imo, tommy lee seems to break tackles with ease!!

The problem with the control is if you pass left you need to make sure you only move the remote left. A natural pass movement goes right a little bit first before swinging left which fools the controls.

Going to buy it this week. So you have to flick the pass right or left rather actually passing the ball?

Noticed one of the shops in St Stephens was selling rugby league 3 with a wii console etc on monday.Think it was £135.

Yeah. The nunchuck is used for directional play and power moves.

The main wii remote is used for tackling and kicking as well as passing. You flick left or right for a short pass and swing left or right for a cut-out pass. You can try passing with both hands if you want but it needs to start from a central point and only move in one direction otherwise you'll throw the pass the wrong way.

Graphics are a little slow and unmanoverable a little like RL1 and RL2. The game itself though is a laugh to play and the franchise mode brings an element of Madden to it. (without the great graphics or career mode unfortunately)

whats the nunchuck/wiimote combo, i do find the controlling of it weird when im on the main page and i want to go down you have to press the side buttons rather then just the down and up buttons, also when im on the game if i want to pass left you have to do it passing right very weird do anyone know how to change this if you can please

Mine's gone back!! Worst game i've actually ever bought. Shame as it had so much promise!!
There should be a backup option for manual controls on the wii remote as the motion controls are horrendous!! I know people are defending it but in a natural swing of the arm (to the left for example) your body will move your arm right first, and vice versa!! If it was £10 then maybe that's an excuse but this is £40!!!!! The guy in Gamestation said they'd had alot of people return the game as 'unwanted' and changed mine no questions asked!!
Poor game by a poor designer, i love my RL but i'll go without this time!!!

navigating the menu is done with the nuchuck analogue stick i think? As for the passing you should be moving them left to pass right, i know it can be a tad sensitive but i use the following

short pass left or right - flick wiimote left or right
long pass left or right - swing both wiimote and nunchuck left or right
High kick A button and flick wiimote upwards
Grubber kick B button and flick wiimote down
Drop goal A+B and flick wiimote up
Chip over the top - quick press of B button
Spint C button (On nunchuck)
Change player Z button (Nunchuck)
Hand off C and forward on nunchuck
Sidestep C and left/right on nunchuck

remember when ready to kick or defend kick press the - button on the wiimote to move into kick mode.
Also setting defense you press the D-Pad left/right/up/down to move them left/right in close to the ptb or spread out.

Got it yesterday, decent game apart from a few bugs like Tommy Lee & Thorman being outstanding players





Got a couple of gamecube style controllers too for £6 a piece, make it a bit easier to control but didnt really have too much problem with the Wiimotes anyway

its a pity ea sports dont have a go at doing a rugby league game especially on xbox and ps3 would be wicked
