We signed Turner who was supposed to be a 6. We also have Whiting, Washbrook and Berro which is more than most teams. Not the best halves but then cover generally isn't.

Leeds have a system and no matter who plays in the halves it does not change, we rely on players rather than systems which is why injuries hurt us so much.

But who is the back up 7?

I agree with that but whiting never gets a chance there , washy just isn't a 6 or 7 and berro is really struggling . We need a proper back up at 6 or 7

It's about halfback cover rather than a 6 or 7. When Sinfield moves to the halves with McGuire whilst Burrow is injured he plays 7 but clearly isn't one.

We have Tansey and Berrigan who have both played SH.

No other teams have 2 old injury prone halfbacks though.

I dont know how but we have to make a quota spot available to sign another halfback.

Sinfield of course is a much better player but the point is they play another player out of position.

berrigan,horne,washbrook .yes they have played 7,but take sean long out and we havent a decent back up scrum half on the books.we will struggle till long returns.as for the future,its imperative we secure a young long term successor to long.

If Burrow or McGuire miss a game they have an international 13 that moves there dont they, and then they have fantastic cover to step into the back row. No comparison with us imo.

TBF Sinfield plays exactly the same way where ever hes name, the main pivot for Leeds.

People keep going on about a back up 7 but look at the likes of Leuluai ( a hooker ) Chase ( SO) Orr (SO) Jeffries (SO) to name a few who play at 7 for there clubs but not a natural 7. The role of a 7 has changed massively imo with the likes of Eastmond and Myler they play alot more like a 6 than actually controlling the game.

Someone needs to grow a pair and do something with Horne, he simply isnt good enough anymore. If we had a top class 6 we would be able to get away with playing the likes of Berrigan at 7.

In Horne and Berrigan we have a hell of a lot of our salary cap that is simply wasted. No team would be able to compete with circa £250k missing from the cap.

I wouldn't be too upset to see both of them go..... in fact, i would be quite alot happier. I just fear a poor performance when i see the words 'Richard' and 'Horne' in our squad.

So we need to find a player who can adequately cover HB. I don't see what point you're trying to make

so who is to blame for the last 8 weeks, poor peformances, boring rugby! apart from saints we havn't thrilled the paying public have we? now if you had put 'Richard' and 'Agar', that would've been more accurate

Wonder if tickle has regrets of turning down the rumoured chance of going to huddersfield now with brown doing his u-turn and staying, always got the impression he decided to stay at hull with huddersfield being in limbo in regard their coach situation.

I suppose that's the benefit of playing a proper loose forward instead of another prop.

Bingo. Long term though, I'd like to see us go back to a playmaking loose forward who could move if needed, like we did with Jason Smith.

I'm not blaming Horne for the last 8 weeks, but I am saying he's part of our problem of over paying under performing players, in which he is the worst culprit!! Get rid, the definition of average. And to think he'll be pushing half a million or more for his testimonial, a bit of payback would be welcome!!

The difference is, Sinfield has played in the halves for Leeds many times over the years and they know he can do the job to a decent standard when required. We have Danny Washbrook who has never convinced there in all his time in the first team yet we still persist.

Sinfield can organise a side, distribute the ball quickly and accurately, read the game and exploit gaps, and has a good kicking game. Danny Washbrook can drop his shoulder and step off his right foot into a tackler.

I'm not blaming the player here, I'm questioning why we continue with a failing tactic.

The main difference is Sinfield is the main Leeds pivot even when the halves are fit. Washbrook could be a good 13 he just lacks pace to be a halfback.

Correct Sinfield is the main man even when the two halves play. It does not matter who plays 6 or 7 as long as one of them acts as the main pivot. We don't really have anyone who is capable of that except Long and possibly Tansey.

The point was the Leeds don't carry an additional player in the squad to cover the halves, they play others out of position, like we do. They just happen to have SL's most intelligent player.
