Kolpak doesn't really exist anymore. We have 6 spots in total,five of which can be what we used to call "quota". The other one being what we use to call "kolpak" but now call non-fed. Sam counts as a non-fed and DOES take up one of the places.

Next season we can have five and it doesn't matter where they come from or what passports they hold. It is five. O'Meley, Fitz, Berrigan, Cusack makes four and Sam would be the last one. Manu doesn't count because he's got the same "residency" exemption as Gene and Aizue had.

but we will struggle to get another overseas player in late in the season. Plus then there's the VISA lottery to take into account

if there was a chance of us getting a top stand off in, I'd rather we went for that..but i just can't see one becoming available.

I just cant see Agar thinking that is a priority. I also dont think there is the money to buy a 'top' one even if he did. We are one of the well behaved clubs who do stick to the salary cap you know !

There exceptions to the rules as well. Manu doesn't count anymore because of the 4 year residencey rule, if Tony had have extended his contract he would have come off the overseas list for been a super league player early 2008 and been in the last year of his contract.

Your allowed 6 qoverseas players, a maximum of 5 which can be quota (ie. Berrigan, Cusack, O'Meley and Fitzgibbon) and the rest are kolpak (ie. Lauaki and Moa).

So you could have 5 quota and 1 kolpak or
4 and 2 or
3 and 3 etc.

Therefore Moa would be our final overseas player.

Yes. Manu is exempt because he had played in Super League before the new overseas rules came in place. However, only players who qualify for the old kolpak ruling can apply for dispenstation.

Callum I think your wrong. Manus residencey rule means he has lived in england for 4 years. Nothing to do with the new sl rules what gene started. Your getting the 2 rules mixed up.
