| i dont think that rule will apply anymore
it only happened because crusaders folded after new contracts were given out
overseas players from hull kr shouldn't be rewarded with offers of contracts (after not performing for them) from other superleague teams who have filled their quota

Correct not a rule, didn't happen with the Bradford players, so won't happen with Rovers players.

| If Micheals is signing which Pearson said it was a done deal, and there is no truth in Manu or anyone leaving rumour, we have no quota spot so any half back must be either English or have an English Passport or European, that for me leaves Brough, Richie Myler, Cats had a bit of turmoil and may want rid, or the Bradford player Rovers where after, or someone in Aussy who has an English passport Widup maybe, the only other situation could be Carlos heading home, but I doubt that Pearson never said anyone was heading out other than loan players, well it was Cooke who implied that TBF

| Ratchford would be my choice from any SL team. He's a big part of the Warrington team and I would guess they'd demand a huge transfer fee for him. Chances of signing him must be very slim

| I think people are getting a bit carried away here. I doubt we'll have much cap as we were scratting around to fit michaels in and we have no overseas spots so talk of carney, kelly, mcgulvray and brough are pie in the sky. Probably a couple of championship players or fringe SL players

Correct. But what's an off season on here without people fabricating ludicrous player links to then slate the club relentlessly for not getting them even though as you say we've nowt to play with. You know the drill by now surely?

Passports don't matter anymore. It's either Federation (RLEF) trained or Non-Federation trained. To a maximum of 7 players.
Definition of Fed trained from the RFL rules:
"‘Federation Trained Player’: a player who, for any 3 full Seasons before the end of the Season in which he ceases to be eligible by age to play at Under 21 level has been on the Club’s register or the register of another Club which plays in competitions under the jurisdiction of a member of the RLEF. For the avoidance of doubt if a player moves from one Club’s register to another Club’s register and there is a period of no more than 28 days in the Season (as defined) and any amount of the period between the 1 December and the day of the first League Match, Representative Match or Cup Tie (whichever is sooner) between being removed from one register and being registered with another Club, consecutively shall not be broken for the purposes of this clause. In addition a Club may apply for a Player who has been granted New Talent Pool status"
Widdop is a bit of an anomaly as he's English, but I'm not sure whether he was on the books of a club over here before moving to Aus at 16.

| You might be right but Pearson said we are looking in the NRL for a stand off/outside back. Not enough left on the cap and no quota place - the whole thing is a bit of a mystery. He said signings will be made within 2/3 weeks so we'll have to wait and see. Also Radford said a while back they'd be no more signings.

The only thing we could deduce form AP stating that we are looking in the NRL is they are either English and coming back to the UK (Widdop??) or we will be releasing one quota player to go home from our current squad with the resiging of Michaels.
Interesting times indeed.

I'm not sure Widdop is Fed trained though due to him being in Aus since 16 (unless he was on the books of a UK club for a minimum of three years before he left?).
The flip side would be if we signed an Australian at 16-18 - by the age of 21 they'd be classed as Fed Trained.

Think its all academic anyhow as wouldn't see how we could fit anyone of real quality salary wise into the squad and still stay under the cap. Unless we are to lose a player or two to release cap space etc.

| I think we need to kick on and get to the next level because we are bang average and going nowhere. We need new coaches, a new owner, a linking fullback, wingers with genuine pace, a strike centre, a running six and an organising seven. We are light at prop, we need a creative hooker and we have to replace our entire back row because I've heard all the players have a deadly disease and can't play anymore because of health and safety. We also need to move to a new stadium and get more fans and have more money and win more games and only play matches when I can go with more free tickets.
Don't ask me where any of this is going to come from. Its not my job to run the club.

| It's great fun reading all the reasons why we can and then cannot sign the NRL 6 that Adam confirmed we'll be announcing in around 2 weeks time. It's what makes our forum so lively and entertaining.
However, for me, I'm of the mind that, if Adam and Motu have done the sums and say its do-able. Then it's do-able.
God forbid they've mashed up the rules or the numbers.
I'm sure Adam will have watched and learnt with amusement our poor neighbours HudgeMasongate comedy gold moment. So I think it unlikely we'll have to embarrassingly de-register anyone Dobson like. Unless of course one of our learned forum members have just reminded him of something he may have forgotten. Lol
I don't know how they're going to do it, but I'm sure he's very close already. He must be to be open enough to announce it.
So the strengthening continues and I'm a very happy Airlie Bird.

| Why is wanting to be better/have better players than we currently have and indeed have a better way to play games/use the interchange or make better any aspect of the club wrong?
It's all well and good to take the but if we want to keep winning we can't stand still.
Finding improvements everywhere has to be the basic minimum ANY organisation does.
Winning/losing in sport is very fine margins, even in a game were losing by 20+ points can balance upon a small margin here and there.
This year we won the CC beating all the top teams along the way which was amazing, however there were aspects that we could improve upon that we saw affect us in individual games whether that be how we played/didn't play as a team or whether an individual wasn't up to scratch and indeed if the coach made mistakes.
I'm sure Radford will look at his decisions (one hopes) look at what worked and what didn't work and make adjustments/improvements to keep us up with the rest of the top teams going forward.
Rest on your laurels and there is a greater chance of it being fubar.
We know this more than most after the false dawn of the 2005/06 seasons. That failure was from all avenues, players, coaches and those at the top.
Getting it right is damn hard when everyone else is trying to emulate and surpass you, let's hope we are in contention next year (I feel we will be) because another false dawn could be very hurtful not just for fans but also for the club as a whole.

| We were after him in 2012 IIRC and turned out to be a bullet dodged scenario (like Campese) when he retired the following year through injury.
