| According to this [url:8qkj668x]https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/john-cartwright-outlines-hull-fc-9912346[/url:8qkj668x], we'll field the 'majority' of the first team with anyone not 100% fit missing out.

| I would not risk Rapana, Sezer, Asiata, Ese'ese, Hardaker, Cartwright. Maybe not Cust either.
We don't want to start the SL season missing any of them.

| Difficult one. Do we go in for 40 min with decent team. Get them used to the plays etc......Then 2nd string to give them a good runout .....Then if you do that you risk injury?.......Devil you do Devil you dont

Under normal circumstances i wouldnt have played any first team players but having seen Cust and Sezer non performance against Cas i would definitely play them for at least half a game

I'm assuming we can only name four on the bench, it's a competitive game.

Put the youngsters on the bench......As I say it's a hard one but I'm sure Cartwright has it sussed

| It's certainly a difficult one really and it will be interesting to see what the coach decides selection wise. I'd go for the strongest team possible without risking anyone. Saturdays run out made it apparent that the spine need as much real match game time as possible. That leaves them open to injuries I know, but they need to be more fluent and 'co-ordinated' than they were at Cas. and coaches tell us proper contested games are the only thing that gives you that.
What is most interesting for me is to see how we approach the game as a team. In past years we all know we would have gone into it thinking we had it won before we went out there, but I want to see us showing respect for the opposition but keeping our foot on the gas for the full 80 minutes. if we are well in front is when we see if we can stick to the game plan. No dropping off tackles in defence and no easing off or 'being greedy' in attack. It would be great to reward the Kemps with a place in the 17 but will they be in it for Catalan?? If not they will keep players who are to play in France out of the last full on game we have before the season proper starts. Our attitude and application will, for me, tell us a lot about the culture in the club, the amount of accountability the players have for the coach and the mental toughness this group has. It will be an interesting afternoon.

Can’t risk Ligi either. Unless the RFL change their stance, he’ll get a big ban if he is guilty of any infringement in the next 2 games, so best he sits out the York game.

| hope the club sent someone to Fev on sunday just to check out the state of the pitch! i know some people have said to play our spine, but if the pitch is like a paddy field, maybe hold back on most of the seniors, cant afford any serious injuries like our last visit to there in the cup!

Based on this video it looks pretty good tbf. As good as could be expected at this time of year certainly.

| Ligi Sao has to play as he’s so unfit still
Make him play the 80
You need these games as a coach to see who’s working hard on what they did in training
The video reviews can spot lazy players and we need to rid the team of laziness
We need a complete discipline overhaul and once again these matches will catch you out if you drop off
Not as in losing but the coach gets to see who’s bought in and who hasn’t
Some players like Sao will see this as a breather match where as some like the Kemps will go hammer and tong
I’d go with who hasn’t got a niggle as we do have a match the following week that really matters

| For me I just wouldn’t risk Cust, Sezer, Asiata, Rapana or Hardaker. Playmakers and centres we just don’t have the cover. Had the Cross and Sneyd moves (or the Abdull situation played out differently) worked out it would be a different story but it is what it is.
Hopefully we’ll either add in these positions mid season, or if we get off to a semi decent start it will just be better environment for the likes of Kemp, Charles and Westerman to come into. They have the potential I just think we need to start the season with the senior guys in these positions.

Cust and Sezer were non existent at Cas apart from one decent Sezer cut out pass we created very little
Maybe leave out Asiata,Rapana and Hardaker for half the game but these two need some game time.
Little point going into the Catalan and Wigan games with your half backs lacking game time they will be backs to the wall difficult as it is
This is easy game time so get Cust running from half back which is what we need

| I wouldn't play Cust or Sezer. Our season isn't going to be defined by how clinical and fluent they are in attack in game 1 of the season. You cannot play open, expansive rugby in the first month or 2 anyway due to the weather, it will be about completing set for set, and good kick chase.

| If we don't play Cust and Sezer then we could use our academy halves. So C.Kemp and Thompson. Would be good experience for them if they don't get hurt.
Is Balmforth still considered a possible 6? Maybe he gets a go. You could see him scoring for fun against tired amateurs.

Balmforth? But then Hutchinson would have to do 80 minutes at 9. Don't know enough about him to know if he's capable or not, but again an amateur team he may feel comfortable doing that.
Or maybe Lloyd Kemp at 1, with Moy and Hutchinson sharing the hooker duties.
Or Moy in the halves rather than Balmforth.
I'm just gonna stop there because who knows! And every time I edit my post I think of a different option that Carty might try ![Laughing ]({SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif)

| Going to guess that the pitch at Fev has played a part in players been rested, Leeds and Saints have gone stronger playing on SL standard pitches.

IMG had suggestions to revamp the cc didn't they with group stages and two legged semi finals? The club's I imagine rejected it, the RFL came up with this ill thought out novel idea, now they're looking to revamp it again.
Don't spend 500k a year on consultants if you're not going to listen to them! The club's thinking they know best is why IMG were brought in in the first place.
The third round draw would've been better if super league clubs weren't seeded, could've been a few big teams out early doors that way and an amateur/champ team would've had more chance of getting to a later round, thereby rekindling the magic of the cup, rather than it's current state

The bit is bold is exactly the issue I see and why the game is on it's as for want of a better phrase theres 'too many cooks'
Year on year money is spent or rather wasted on some form of consultancy or change and then most of what has been found simply gets ignored. The old adage of 'if you don't like the answers then don't ask the questions' springs to mind.
The game needs a strong, professional and forward thinking Governing body but sadly we have the total opposite with a weak, parochial and amateur.

As a Fev fan there's not much wrong with the pitch at the moment, it's what you'd expect from a grass pitch in February but certainly not in any way a risk. With the weather fairly dry recently, it's been not remotely like the Challenge Cup game you might have seen against Wakefield last year - when it chucks if down with rain for hours, as it did then, the pitch does get very boggy but most of the time it's fine.
That said, maybe somebody has in the back of their mind the fact that Hull picked up a few injuries in that feisty CC game at Post Office Road a few years ago, but that was a bit of a freaky game and generally you don't see more injuries at Fev than anywhere else.
