That rumour's been floating around for months. Originally started by some over-excitable Wakey fan with a superb conspiracy theory about a sponsor holding the RFL to ransom. Can't see it myself - not enough extra cash in the TV deal to fund an extra team and the fixture list would be problematic.

Depends what passport he has but they'd both count on the non fed list.

im sure i read somehwere that he doesent count on quota. i could be wrong but thats not often the case

So we have just one Non Fed spot currently unassigned, and no Quota spots. If we retain either Moa or Lauaki then we're full, regardless of McKinnon's possible Scottish ancestry. If we want to sign a Quota player then we'd have to lose either Obst or O'Meley.

But forgetting the quota, he'd (McKinnon) still be on the non fed list.

So we pay a fee for Obst,give him a 2 year deal,then get rid after one?????
