The confidence thing worries me . After the two whippings by Leeds , It seems were back to last season already. Some players are just happy standing there waiting for other players do do something. The second phase attack at hull in non exsistant . Movement around the play the ball is the same. Weve still got the one man rugby syndrome either because of what the players are been told in the gameplan or are unwilling get stuck in.

A lot of that was due to not having an effective half back combination.
When Long is available you have more attacking options.

I think it's down to the halfbacks in the main. I thought Horne was average last night - very slow and rarely committing defenders at the defensive line. Washy isn't a half. This translates into a lack of structure (even more than normal) and players don't know what is happening. Everyone starts to lose confidence. I think it will return if we can play a settled side in the second half of the season.

I've reserved my judgement for a long time on Craig Hall. I've now concluded he is definately not good enough

Hall's biggest problem seems to be a lack of concentration at times, He dropped a couple of ball he really should have taken but other than that he did not do much wrong. I don't know why people always want to criticise someone after every game we play. If players have a bad game, big deal, it happens to the best.

Hall kicked a great goal which was crucial as the match went on and made one good break.

It does, though far less frequently. Hence the reason they are considered 'the best'.

And since when has Hall been labelled as the best? He is a young centre still learning the game and as a result sometimes does good things and sometimes does bad things.

He did nothing last night to warrant a thread about his poor performance.

In fairness many people are commenting about his season performances. And incidentally he is paid to concentrate.

Then in fairness to Hall how many games has he had in his proper position? He needs to be given a run at centre for about 10 games and then judge him imo.

Preferably, but just a run in the centres would do. I still have my doubts about the kid but he needs to be given a shot and also needs some decent ball to work with.

He looks far more comfortable on the left rather than the right. If Yeamo is back next week i'd play him on the right and leave Hall to play on the left.

He has played loads of games at centre for Hull including a fair few this year. IMO Whiting is a better centre but has played wing to accomodate Hall. Don't get me wrong I long for him to improve and make the grade but it's the same mistakes week in week out in defence which frankly stand out like a sore thumb.

Er, he hasn't. That's my point. The best players have very few poor games, Hall does not.



His defence was very shaky - again - and he bombed a decent scoring opportunity because he was looking at the defender rather than the ball he should have been catching. At the moment, his negative aspects outweigh the positive ones.

That's not an excuse for his defence.



I haven't seen the replay of their last try, but from what I saw live he appeared to turn his back on the man with the ball early in the move. Had he made the tackle, they might not have scored.

I agree,Craig needs to read the game better and not leave his line so exposed.

His defence wasnt shaky at all....as for that pass.....looked to me as though he was trying to pass it in one movement...people just want to see what they want with Hall

I think the left centre thing is a bit of a red herring we have little evidence that he would be markedly better on the left. I would swap him with Yeaman to try though as you suggest.

As for last night he didn't cost us any tries. But surely you cant deny that his decision making is poor defensively? If the sliding defence has failed him he has no chance but there have been many occasions where he is in no man's land waving his arms about. He cost us against Rovers with a simple one on one take your man situation and some of the Wigan tries were his fault and his alone. I remember back at the Millenium stadium when we played Rovers - one of his first games - he did the same there. The point being that there has been little improvement since then.

I said a while back that he reminded me of Steve Evans. Not the best defensively but could score tries for fun. Steve Evans was an international however and Hall has a long way to go to reach that standard. A long long way.

We'll have to differ there. He shot the line a number of times when he didn't need to and was arguably at fault for their last try.

After turning his back and letting him through the gap. Even if it happened as you say, he made a few poor decisions in defence that a better side would have punished.
