on a serious note if fc decide to back him and he is found guilty etc, and say given comm service, then what punisment do you feel your club should give him?. It is not as if he is dealing drugs or going round killing people or other serious offences.

I'd sack him, like i would have done last year and like i would have done Cockayne. No room in pro sport for this behaviour for me.

agree totally about any that are guilty of violent offences outside of the game, and there are quite a few plying there trade in rl in the uk

Its a tough one though i guess for the club. Do people deserve 2nd chances? If you sack a prized asset would that simply benefit other teams who may snap him up? Is the term role model overused?

I dont know the answer, im pretty sure that if i was in a Chairmans position i'd probably take my moral high ground and sack the player, and then worry the next week about playing against them. Dont envy Rule or Hudge for having to make those calls.

you can stop this by the rfl not allowing them to be reregistered at another club.
both of them and other chairmen have bottled it on several ocassions when examples should have been made of them, so as to deter off field violent incidents in future.

Fair point. So the RFL would need to support clubs to take action by not allowing the player to be re-registed for either a set period of time of for life depending on the crime. Sounds fair enough and far too common sensical for me!!

get rid, the club is the biggest laughing stock of the league, its embarrassing

just a thought, the club could suspend him until a verdict. this way it will help stop player distractions, help deter others from making offences that will lead to court and if he is found guilty and sacked the side wont be affected as he wont have played. If he in not guilty it could be a welcomed roatation for a few players and motivation for him to get playing again. in th mean time let him play in the reserves to keep him match fit.

dont know if this is a good or bad idea but if he is copying games then maby he can play at home

It would have to be with pay or they would be unable to sack him afterwards I belive.
Its something to do with being punished twice for the same offence I think.

Not sure about that, an employer can do what they want in that situation but the suspended on no pay approach is a dodgy one.

If you wanted to suspend anyone on a criminal charge not connected directly to your employment and you had not been found guilty of any crime as yet. Then the only course of action is suspension on full pay, unless the person pleads guilty prior to the hearing then clearly the employer can act within his own stated terms of employment.

Do FC have a " actions that could damage the clubs reputation, standing or commercial interests" clause ?

I doubt it as they could have used it dozens of times in the last few years to my knowledge and even then they have to be consistant

Its just something I seem to remember happening a while back at a previous employer.
An employee was getting suspended and they wanted to do it without pay, The union rep was more then happy to let them do this much to the employee's annoyance until the rep took him to one side and explained the situation as I have stated, This made the company check why the rep was being so cooperative and he was suspended WITH pay.
He was sacked 3 weeks later (No skin off my nose as the guy in question was the biggest turd you could ever meet)

Not always illegal. The action doesnt need to be whilst at work, if the employee is in the public eye they can be seen as at work permanently.

Wouldnt need the clause either in certain situations, its implied that it comes with the job.

nothing like this is black and white but FC would have grounds for doing whatever they want with the right legal counsel.
