That's my worry. There's no guarantee we can find one without having to break the bank.

| You’ve signed Sam Wood for next season - to be announced tomorrow. He’s a 100% player but has a brain fart a game in him.

| Doesn't Wood live with Mcintosh?
If he's first choice it's an error. I'd be ok as back up

| He had a stinker on his debut against Wigan, but he's been solid for Rovers. Can't say I'm over the moon, but as I say if he's cover I can accept it

He did but he's been pretty good since his debut.
As a squad player he offers more than Wynne and Mitch.

Absolutely not as a replacement for Swift, would rather have Scott in the first 17, as a backup I wouldn't mind as long as its not first choice.

| Decent squad player who can cover wing, centre and back row.
Must have the attributes Smith is looking for so I'm interested to see how he goes.

| Smith mentioned Balmforth and Stavely in a loan player update for Hull Live, saying he has watched all their Newcastle games, I take that as sign its not comfirmed they are off as the club surely wouldent mention them if so?

Sounded more positive about Staveley.

| Rather have Wood than SKD, cheaper, younger and would save us a quota spot.
Always played pretty well when I've seen him, decent squad player IMO.

Be happy with this. Only said the other week that i'd be hoping we would be in for him.
Very good player who can cover wing or centre. Hopefully will put an end to the SKD rumour.

| Sounds like he'll be a starter:
Wood, standing at 6”3 tall, is capable of playing in both the winger and centre positions, offering Smith’s Hull side some utility value whilst also getting a chance to take a starting jersey.

It says a chance for a starting jersey, which you could say that about any player.
Although I do think he was more chance of starting at Hull than Rovers, particularly on the wing.

| The question should be is he better than we currently have, I say he replaces Wynne, so pretty 50/50 on that, think Wynee has more ability (although alotbos potential) were Wood is more professional and consistent.
Rovers fans seem to like him

He'd compete with Scott for me, and be one of the first ones to come in for an injured player. I see him replacing Wynne and Mitch.
If Swift leaves we still need another winger.
He played a bit of 6 at Hudds too. New Richard Whiting?

Unless we haven’t offered him a contract you would have to question why he would leave us as a squad player to come to hull to be a squad player? At his age he needs to be playing can’t see him coming to be back up

Could be a whole host of reasons, for example, at Hull he would be behind Carlos and Sutcliffe for the centre position, while at Rovers Optic, Hall and Gildart (if he signs). No player can be guarateed a starting position, but he may feel he has more chance at Hull.
Could be money, longer contract, location (not this times), lots to consider and not just as straight forward as you think.

| Wood is a good player and I am/will be sorry to see him leave Rovers. The comparison to Whiting is about right, I think.
Imo, he’s definitely better that Hull’s current back-up options, and more versatile. That versatility can be a double edged sword for players, but it’s very helpful in squad building.
From a Rovers pov, it’ll leave a hole. Connor Barley is well thought of, I’ve heard, but he’s only 18.
