I'm sure i've read something somewhere about restriction of trade.... IIRC if you are allowed into a country and allowed to work than you can work for anyone!! I could be wrong tho!

Wouldnt it be better to bring an overseas 7/9 in the mould of Thomas Leuluai or Rangi Chase? That way they could start on the bench and spell Houghton and if Long or Horne miss games they would slip into the halves quite easily.

Yes he would release a lot of cash to spend, but how many teams can boast having the worlds number 1 utility player in their rosta??

i have mixed feelings about SB, not him as a player but its that quota versus cash versus possiblity incoming players issue.. in an ideal world i would like SB to stay plus mason etc but RL is far from perfect huh

Tbh, if they can stick with a few more years, until Galea, Manu, Meli et al retire, it could come good - though of course by then the NRL's bigger cap might have made it irrelevant. If the HDM are right about W. Mason it undermines the whole system.
I agree about the club-trained players - this should be all about giving young players a chance. If they aren't good enough to take it, 'artificially' keeping them in SL, does little for England's prospects. Where your established players come from is, to an extent, a secondary issue - if the problem is kids not getting a chance, then when they do start to get that chance the problem will begin to disappear.

I agree it would boost the team to have a world class utility player on board, however Berro has not performed like a world class player whist he has been here (barring the odd game)....Yet we are paying him world class wages.

Finding form again and being played out of position. If he continues and gets back to his best you won't get a player of his potential quality for the same price anymore. Berro starting with houghton coming off the bench could be very potent. He can also cover multiple positions and has done so at representative level.

Then when berro and long leave the wages left can be put towards an oz halfback for 2012

He was easily our best player in 2008 and provided a bit of quality to a terrible year. Had a good year in 2009 until he got injured yet was still one of our best players in another poor year. 2010 fine he had about 2 good games at the start of year and is only now starting to get back to best.

People have short memories in sport. Happens with berro and it happens to horne. They string together 3-4 average games and then thats it they've always been rubbish

his influence on Young danny is a plus also

Would also be nice to known how many times he had to play scrum half. A position I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you hes not.

No problems with people complaining about his poor year this year but how people seem to get it in their head hes always been poor is beyond me

People forget he was superb in his first season, 2nd season was hit and miss but we as a team were awful and he was playing with injuries. This season he started well but a mixture of injuries and personal issues have derailed him, looks good again now though.

If he stays then great and if he goes then so be it, good luck to him and lets use the quota spot wisely.

I was a Berro fan before he came over here and will be once he leaves.

Would be interesting to know what's the club's stance on berro whether they are fighting tooth + nail to get him to stay or whether they feel change would be best for both parties ?

did berro not get player of the year in 2008?.also,with the amount of time away from the hooker role over the last 2 years,ans playing whilst been totally battered,i dont hink he's done too bad!!

I'd be more inclined to say it's just plain wrong. Anyone who tries to genuinely claim that Berrigan has been poor for the duration of his time with us to date quite frankly doesn't deserve to be watching players of his quality. They'd be just as well served nipping down the local park for all the appreciation and understanding of the game they must have.

I agree to an extent. Berrigan has had games where he has been excellent or even sublime. His quality is not up for question for me, however, his value for money in his time for FC is for my money.
I'd argue that in the grand scheme of things I think that he has, just, if only for the obvious progress Houghton has made in the time he has been here and I don't put that down to coincidence.

Totally agree. There is definitely a question mark over whether or not we have had our money's worth. However, there is also a matching question mark over why that is, as I believe it has at least been as much down to being in a poor side affording him a lack of opportunity to perform until this year.

To now claim he has never shown any form for Hull is ridiculous in the extreme, IMO he almost single-handedly kept us from finishing bottom in 2008, and again looked a cut above on the days our pack chose to turn up during the first half of 2009.

Bearing in mind that it proved impossible for Crocker to get a visa has anyone checked whether Mason's more "colourful" character , would see him getting into the UK? He's certainly courted controversy though I'm not sure whether any of his many fines were from the courts rather than just his club. Or does his NZ , Tongan , US heritage mean different rules apply?
