For that very reason he should not replace someone, who is also not capable of taking us to the top.

It's not a [ireason[/i though is it? It's an understandable point of view that has some evidence to back it up and some evidence to go against it.
IMO given our board's limited vision and ambition, Noble is the best we can hope to get and things would improve greatly under him. Maybe in a few years time we'll all feel he's taken us as far as he can but I'm quite happy to cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

| It is a very reasonable point of view, however my point of view is, that to go from Agar to Noble, will only end up with us further down that famous creek, only this time we'll not only be without a paddle, we may well have a large hole in the canoe.

That's not what you said before though? To carry on your metaphor, maybe Noble wouldn't get us to the top of the creek, but to suggest that he'd take us further down it than Agar already has defies logic.

| So why not bring Noble in on a deal till the end of the season, tell him were looking for a coach on a 2/3 year deal starting 2012 and that he's expected to apply, been the current coach it's his to lose, then interview other applicants and make a appointment asap for recruitment purposes.

I agree that's a good idea from FC's viewpoint, but from Noble's point of view I think he'd see it as disrespectful. He's one of the most successful coaches in the SL era..why would he agree to coming in on what is effectively a trial?

which is where my concerns are not starting to get even worse, fair enough we're stuck with Fubar for the next few games, but I don't want him anywhere near recruitment.

It's a good point that's why I'd tell him we'd announce it within a time frame, a month, and he'd be in the front seat depending how the results go.
I wouldn't let him push us into a decision, if he didn't want to fair enough.

| Cronks nailed on, he's just got to tell Ricky Stuart and Tim Sheens he won't be available for rep selection, tell Craig Bellemy he wants the last two years of his contract ripping up, tell his bank manager he's halfing his weekly deposits and tell his lass their moving from Melbourne to Hull.
Should be easy.

I say it, because although I agree Noble's record speaks for itself, I'm not sure, based purely on what little I know of our clubs inner sanctum, things would run very smoothly between him and those who wield power.
Given that he doesn't strike me as a 'yes' man,and as others have said, our recruitment and retention is crucial for next year, I believe it could cause more problems than it solves.
If on the other hand, he is allowed to stamp his mark, then yes, I would like to see him given a shot at it.

| I'd rather have Clive Woodward, strategically out-thinks his opponents, ensures the highest order of physical training is encorporated and uses mental strength as a tool just as much as the physical. He'd have our game to a tee within a short space of time and being connected at the highest level would be able to enhance our club immeasureably.
He wouldn't come, even if we could scrape together the huge fee but it would be a massive leap for us and RL in general if he did.

The problem with noble for me is that I don't believe he could make us GF winners, however he would improve us and that would see the board giving him a long term deal. We'd be in the mix but never genuine contenders IMO. It would be a hell of a lot better than what we have but still not what we all really want. You also have to question why he was allowed to leave wigan and crusaders (admittedly crusaders was possibly financial)

I agree about where we'd probably end up under Noble but I'd happily take it and cross that bridge when we came to it TBH. Getting the 'next Maguire' is a cheap phrase, but if Jim and Kaff had it about them to go over to Oz and get a Price or a Dymock I'd definitely be up for that over Nobby. But they don't have it in them, so that leaves him as by far the best option.
Think it's fair to say him leaving Crusaders was definitely financial. Wigan I'm happy to put down to the new owner's prerogative to get his own man in, although obviously it's worked out to their benefit.

I would get noble for 2 1/2 years in that he would get recruitment right and put us in a good place IMO.
But all this Noble chatter is irrelevant, I do not believe for a minute he would want to step foot anywhere near the place. Whatever he is, he is no mannequin

As much as I know you love your 80's films, I think the word you're looking for is "marionette".
I would love Edwards, Noble, or almost anyone really. Whilst I don't put 100% blame at Agar's doorstep, I think that change is needed to be a catalyst - any change! I'd be happy to see either a change of ownership, a change of coach, or a complete squad overhaul. It really matters not where the blame lies right now, and we're bound to pick out individuals to be scapegoats, like we have the last 4 seasons, but we will only go backwards on the field if we blithely carry on regardless!
