Seriously though! Does anyone else think that he is a liability off the field and possibly we should be looking for an import half back if Berro goes? I know it would be great to gazzump Rovers but in the end he wants an absolute fortune and I would pay that....but for a half back not a prop!

Rovers know the risks, but want him to swell their gates which are about 500 down on last year! We don't need gimmicks we need play makers IMHO!

I take you point but we will also need props if we lose 3 of our current 5, we could end up being left with Ogre and Moa. Fitz or Hame could possibly move up but we would still be short. Not that it has to be Mason but we do already have two halfbacks plus a bit of cover in Turner, Whiting, Tansey and Washy.

Can only really speculate until we know whats happening with dowes and radford.

Personally i think having 5 forwards using up the quota is the wrong way to go and we could easily be in the same position as this season with a slightly improved squad.

We've been pretty dominant in the forwards this season and we'll still have moa, omeley and fitz providing that dominance next year regardless. Id like to see lauaki moved to prop, fitz to second row and play washbrook at loose. Keep dowes and then get a cheaper forward and spend the money elsewhere. Fitz could also cover prop if needed allowing one of the few younger second rows we have now on profession deals to get a few games when we get injuries.

After being told by a few a people the Mason move depends totally on if berro goes home ? So will replace his quota spot and wages true ? Think sharp will be on less then calderwood so will have money still from Hall , radford or dowes possibly both , Cusack but some of the contract extensions will have taken this up

If Berro /is/ going, which is uncomfirmed, then getting a Hooker has to be a priority. We can't expect Houghton to play 80 mins, week in, week out.

if berro goes we need a backup hooker.what about the u20's hooker?? or do we go for someone else.wasy is not a backup hooker,and never will be.the odd game yes,week in week out-no.

Dont think Mason would be worth what we would be paying him. He would be a massive signing dont get me wrong, but I just dont think he would warrant such a high wage. Obviously should Radford/Dowes leave then we would need to bring in a replacement, but I would much rather go for LMS and (should a quota spot become available) focus on bringing in a good young halfback. Long and Horne are too injury prone im afraid, and it's about time we realised that we need a consistant halfback combination if we are going to be successful. This season weve been fairly lucky, in that our forwards have compensated for a lack of consistancy in the halves but had Fitz and O'Meley not been here, I think we would have struggled massively.
