Would a contract extension to any of the current squad warrent such a build up, surely not.

"Such a build-up"? It's one article on the club website, which runs a promotional preview on the programme content for every home game. Just the usual over-reaction on here as usual (very much including myself in that BTW)

I was including the fact that it's already been mentioned on Rule's KCFM show and he will be talking about it on the radio before the game tomorrow. To me that's a bit of a build up.

Fair enough. They said in the programme before Airlie Night last week there was going to be some big news on the programme, and there wasn't any. I do think the PR people at the club get a bit giddy.

personally for me, id love it to be bigger than fitz resigning, id love it to be a new sponsor or an extension, that sort of new in this climate would be massive!

Hmm...I find it strange they would announce a new player signing in this way.

Whatever it is they've done a very good job of keeping it quiet, so far.

This really, really isn't a criticism of HFC - others clubs, including Rovers, make a splash over sponsors - but [uif[/u it is the announcement of which commercial company is going to have their name on your shirt next year, that isn't, to me, something to trail and generate enthusiasm amongst fans.

Sponsorship is a crucial revenue stream, but not a source of excitement, surely.

Depends who the sponsor is really as it could make the generation of revenue a bit more exciting for the fans.

The way to make it 'exciting' would be to link it to something rugby-related. 'This new deal will allow us invest on an unprecedented level in our academy set-up' or such like. If they do that, they might carry it of.

Whether it is a supermarket chain or an insurance company or a brand of soft drink - does anybody care?

If it is a new player, I think that is quite clever and well done to your management, IMO.

They have categorically stated on the OS that it's a player signing;


LMS or some youth player would be my guess.
