| I can see the logic in improved relations between the two clubs, but like others I am against the idea of a joint team taking on England or an Aussie team. Can't see there being a big crowd and there will be little atmosphere.
I also don't think we need a preseason derby - especially if round one is in Cardiff again.

| Quote ="downtheante"pre-season is a bit pointless as you say but I'd love to support the combined Hull team. Good marketing for Hull, both its teams and RL - I can see us turning out in droves for it plus =#0000FFthe non-Hull England supporters would love to see the match I reckon. Of course the combined Hull team will be a bit depleted of British players because they'd all be picked for England... hem hem. If we don't play England then it would be a good warm up for some of our players for the world club game. Of course it will be difficult next year because Hull are going to win the GF this year so it would just be another game against Rovers.'"
Why?
I have little interest in seeing a combined Hull team, I'd have absolutely f**k all interest in a Leeds/Bradford or Wigan/Saints side, so I don't see why non-Hull rugby league fans would have the slightest interest.
Also, if it's supposed to be a combined Hull side vs. England, what exactly is the point? It would either be a weak team of Brits because none are good enough to be picked for England, or basically an inferior Exiles team, so we may as well stick with that.

| Have no problem with the clubs coming together and discussing ways to improve both clubs. Those that don't want to improve our own club for the sake of it might improve them aren't with listening too. If combined we can both get better sponsors then so what if it helps them? We're doing better also, I thought that was the most important thing?
In regards to junior development, I aren't familiar with what the grassroots scene is like in Hull anymore having been in Leeds for the last 5 years, but from what I've heard it's been a bit of a shambles since both clubs are doing what's best for their club instead of what's best for the kids themselves. If both clubs could work together to present a united package to develop players in the City of Hull and the East Riding then I think it would be fantastic. It's not a case of it being money saving, it's more about it being cost effective. You'd hope they'd spend he same but get more for their money. More kids playing the game, more talent to choose from and hopefully better talent to choose from. Hopefully local rep fixtures and training will be better organised (I've heard it's been farcical in recent years). And remember, this is things that can be done BEFORE players are scouted and put onto scholarships.
Again, so what if they get a few good uns if there's MORE to choose from then previously? Surely we will as well?
The friendly I aren't too keen on for reasons people have stated. Too many games against KR at the moment. It dilutes the derby game experience if here's too many of them.
The Combined Hull side to be fair I'd like to see. Something I've never seen before. I'd definitely go watch. However I don't agree with international teams not playing other international teams. The international game is small enough as it is, so if they've got a chance to play games then they need to be against other international teams like Wales, France, Scotland, Ireland, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, PNG, etc. Combined Hull vs NRL winners would be a good game. I'd even say a game against Cumbria would be a good watch.
Not sure what else to comment on. Oh, the line from Hudge about OUR board being arrogant is the pot calling the kettle black! The guy is an absolute embarrassment!

The budget shortfall isn't new to Rovers it's only new to those who have just read the YEP. The building of the new stand will get underway in January. It's gone back out to tender and on completion of the tendering process we'll start to see some foundations being finally laid.

Tbf, I had a discussion with someone from Rovers about this months ago. Iirc, they also had problems with the steel prices.

the issue months ago was that the disabled area hadn't been specified correctly and something else to do with the sponsors boxes (from what I was told) the whole project has "rushed white elephant" written all over it, but as it involves Hull City Council and Hull KR that is hardly surprising!

Speaking to people involved, it seems the few problems we've listed are just the tip of the iceberg. As you say though, it's really no surprise.

it was quite interesting, when I sent a freedom of information request asking for the up to date list of members interests and gifts I was told that it was "currently being updated", there are so many vested interests between HCC and HKR that the investment would not, I believe, stand up to independent scrutiny.
A bit like West Ham getting a £40m loan from Newham, would KR have been able to borrow the money needed for this investment, no, and is this investment really a sound expenditure in the current financial situation that HCC find themselves, again, no.

| It was the last administration that approved the plans when things where a little different. This administration will have serious problems approving an over spending on a project when the purse strings are very tight.
Ther may be the will amongst the Labour group to approve, but the political downdraft is one they will not risk. Closing old peoples homes, one of the theatres will have to go soon and all the money ripped away from the voluntary groups and then this overspend.

not 100% Ian, will try and find out, either way, as you say, finding another 700K will be "interesting" for said development.

| I am not sure how I feel about this new era of entente cordiale, although I am glad that the bickering and pettiness will stop. Does this mean, for example, our commercial team going out and out to get the best sponsorship deals out there and then having to share them with our rivals ?
Other than facilities I can't see what else we would benefit from sharing with them.
