I think so yes, if he's playing centre.
Hes a great leader, and although his pace has gone he's got great footwork close to the defenders so more often than not he gets on the front foot, he's got a great work rate still, the only thing lacking these days is pace.
1 year yes, two's a big gamble.

He is not a great player
If he hadnt had a decent season last year then HKR fans would have said he was pants

Also heard one of our previous links, AJ Wallace is heading to them.

| Big win in terms of recruitment and retention, will give players much more confidence in signing.
Still not sure on Satae, total rock and diamond performance from him tonight.

| Not sure what thread to post this on but I need to admit I was wrong. Last season I was questioning why Dave K was so adamant on here that Davey Litten needed to be given a chance. Now we know, never been happier to be wrong.

| Agree litten gonna be a star. One tiny thing I noticed tonight was he was sometimes slow getting across to the ball. Resulting in a drop out in one case. I was shouting at time get a move on. But that's Nick picking as he certainly has got all the attributes to be a very good fullback

Maybe the club could bring Brett Hodgson in for some one to one coaching like they did for Jamie Shaul

Think it was more a case of the underfoot conditions being treacherous, and him being safe rather than sorry.
Fine lines.
He'd have been getting bagged on here if his dropped ball at the end had lead to us getting beat.

| I honestly feel that if we can get a good prop and back rower in this season we’ll laughing. Jordan lane is offering nothing at the minute which is sad as I always thought he was a great line runner. Doesn’t even do that now.

He's been hiding away on the right wing when we've needed a tough carry. From where he was in 2020/21 it's been a steep decline

Timely reminder your Club is basically Bankrupt.
Loss for the year c650k
Cash erosion c400k
New borrowing c500k
Technically insolvent
Cash run rate <12m
Liquidity ratio c0.44 (excluding accrued income)
Note that Tax creditor has jumped significantly which could indicate entering into a TTP arrangement with HMRC

| Here goes ready to be shot at
Houghton another year for me, showed his class last two games with Dwyer(1 more year) they work well, Lovudua release, Griffin one year not taken a backward step all season, Tag the same he's been miles better after a run of games and injury free, Evans we know is going. Cam Scott and Macca sign them up good solid young squad players.
Satae is a must for our pack hoping games like last night and the fact Ligi is staying may persuade him to stay. Hearing Swift going which is a shame but can understand his circumstances. Wynne, Shaul going. Savelio I like but his injury record and heart is a big issue, we need second rowers desperately but would like to see Jebson get a game before end of the season shame Severs injured. Armstrong highly rated hope we can sort him a new deal out. Cator for me new 2 year deal he's a proper hard grafter that we need. Balmforth not sure yet but wouldn't be disappointed if we gave him a new 1 year deal.
Interesting comment by TS on humberside last night, just listened back now saying a few older players (I presume Houghton, Tag and Griffin) he will make decisions on some senior players later in the season as regards to if they can go again and prove their bodies can take it another season which I'm certain Tag and Mint would be happy to bide their time.
Also heard TS does all contracts negotiations and in/outs Clarkey nothing to do with this now.

I wouldn't be offering Houghton an extension. I'd still be trying to get another 9 in, as good as he's been the last few weeks.
Taylor get a 12 month deal for me. I've been really critical of him the last few seasons, but I'd give him another go. Torn of Griffin, he's having a decent season and not many SR about, depends what we can come up with.
Agree on Cator, Scott and McNamara.
Be disappointed to lose Swift, he's been a good buy for us.

| As good as Houghton has played the last 2 games, it is about what he can do for 26 games a year, not 2. That is the sentimental stuff rearing its head again. What the last 2 games has done for Houghton though, is re-affirmed himself as a modern day great for the club, back to back cup winner. His last 2 years had started to diminish that legacy - and this year should be his swan song

| My stance is:
Griffin - No Contract, however will probably retire either way
Houghton - If we are absolutely desperate for a Hooker then a Year deal on reduced terms
Taylor - Year contract on reduced terms, gives us size in the pack and would be a good squad player

| For me Griffin makes yards esp after contact. Always looks a handful. If he wants to go round again would definitely consider a 1 yr deal.

Totally agree even Houghton "playing well" doesn't rock the world
He's never had a international cap cause he's just never that top level hooker
Dwyer at his best will get an international cap imo cause he offers attacking intent
When Houghton makes a break it hardly leads to a try as he's not pace to really kill teams
