| Quote ="Keiththered"FC obviously did not appreciate what they had with Hodgdon.
Yes they did have chances at FC but seem to be showing what they can do with a decent coach. Ward at Broncos and Smith at Rovers. Abdull had an excellent season in London. Unfortunately injury has limited his chances with us. Time will tell if it was a one off on Thursday but the three matches we’ve played since lockdown give cause for optimism each one better than previous one. Not an improvement that FC have shown so far.'"
Hodgson from an FC perspective was just one of those things. I'm sure every club has examples of players being released who go on to much better things. At time we had Shaun Berrigan a recent Australian international and State of Origin regular plus Danny Houghton coming through a year or so ahead of Hodgson. We signed Heremaia a couple of seasons later who was happy to be an interchange hooker, Hodgson may not have been so keen had he stayed.
As you say, time will tell re: Abdul and Litten but I say honestly I don't see them as anything other than steady Eddies who (no offence) may stand out in weaker sides.

I agree
I think the other problem in our club for Albo is Connor
Radford gave in to Connor.gave him Albos no 6 shirt then expect Albo to be happy.
Another big mistake from Radford on par with getting rid of Watts

| You’re right. The decision to get rid of Watts looks worse and worse as time goes on. Giving Connor the 6 jersey was also wrong looking back. Kelly had done nothing wrong (far from it). Kudos to Kelly for not sulking about it.

You don't really think players are bothered about squad numbers, do you?
I mean Sika Manu always took the number 21 shirt even though he was first choice bit that's different. Kelly getting the 14 shirt didn't mean he was no longer first choice stand off.

| It amazes me that people still bring up the Watts saga on a regular basis.
We'll soon be getting told that Watts and his dad were begging the club to keep him, and that he would play for free.

I doubt it also, but according to the same journalist (Matthew Shaw) we are after signing Benji Marshall !

Why not just keep it as it was then?. It must have mattered to someone for the change to be made.

Think it’s a valid bone of contention. The coach got rid to satisfy his ego to the detriment of the team. Ask AP if he would do the same today.

So if players are not bothered about squad numbers then why give the six shirt to Connor when he could have had 14

There’s a world of difference between a player choosing a number outside the first 13 and having such a number and then having it taken away by the club and given to someone else.

| As I say, I doubt very much the players are that bothered about squad numbers. Maybe Connor requested the six shirt and Kelly was happy to take number fourteen.
Kelly got number 14 but has started six games and not come off the bench yet. Satae is numer 10 but six out of his seven appearances this season have come as an interchange forward.
Why does everything have to be a conspicacy theory after a loss?

| If he wants to stay we would be mad not to try and keep him, I'll be very disappointed if he moves to another club in the UK. Keep him, release Shaul and play Connor at FB.
If he goes go, I'd try and sign Gareth O'Brien and also keep an eye on what Warrington as they have Widopp, Austin, Inglis and Rachtford signed on for next year.
Our biggest issue (playing wise) is not having 3 pivots, all the top sides do, but we have a FB who cannot pass or make the right decision with the ball in hand, this doesn't seem to be getting any better either.

| Given likely budget constraints it feels like releasing Jordan Abdull was a potential mistake. Connor at 6, Sneyd at 7 and Abdull at 13 could have worked and with him being talked about by Rovers fans in the same bracket as Widdop and Austin looking like a mistake in hindsight.

Jordan does look even bigger than when we had him, Greeny also looked massive for Wakey.

| Have to say I am struggling to maintain interest in the whole sport at the moment.
In part due to our yet again all hype and no delivery form, in part because of not being physically at games, and now the odd new table based on average points may mean Super League crowns a winner whos had less games (and potentially easier games) than others. Teams weakened each week due to Covid contact tracing, players banned for breaking Covid rules but still pkaying, odd disciplinary decisons. A Cup winner that may only have won 3 games...
Know there is no easy answers...but have to be honest im not feeling in a rush to shell out hundreds for a 2021 pass given the current mayhem and uncertainty. Club are going to have to get a top coach signed and a promise we are sorting the culture for good to fix the one issue they can control.

Shame that, maybe there are plans to resign him in a year or two, not so easy if he'd gone to another SL club.
