| Very sad news, thought are with his family.
I have two abiding memories of him as a player. The try were he out paced Darren Albert at the KC and the last minute drop goal at The Shay in 2001 and then seeing Shane Richardson on Prescotts back!
But mostly he will be rightly remembered for his bravery and charity work.
RIP.

I was there that night. The drop goal was from the M62 as I recall. Poor Preckie nearly broke his back when Richo jumped him. The atmosphere was incredible and the pubs were rammed that night.
I also remember a distinctly uncomfortable look on Prekkies face when modelling the new FC shirt on the top deck of Princes Quay. This was in his second stint at the club.

| RIP to a man who commands so much respect. Some magic moments for me watching this guy play, often seemed to be labouring when he was actually really motoring! Deceptive little fella, great memories.
Since finishing playing his exploits in the face of adversity were truly tremendous, and a really nice human all round.
Great player, great man, great loss.

I remember that well. The game in which Tony Smith broke his leg. I was jumping around the living room when that went over.
His form in his final season before he injured his knee was outstanding, I recall many thinking he must be in contention for the man of steel. How fitting it would be for that trophy to now be named after him.
On the applause or silence debate, I can think of no more a fitting tribute then people making up their own minds about what the man warranted as a mark of respect. Hearing the applause start and then spread around the ground had me in tears. My partner, who didn't really know who he was summed it up perfectly when she said it was as if 25000 friends of his were in the stadium. Gutted that the man himself has gone but its important that his legacy and work that he's done for communities continues. My condolences to his family and friends. RIP Steve and thanks for the memories.

| I think the term 'Legend' is a bit over-used these days. But if one guy warrants this title it is Steve. Not necessarily for his playing achievements but his achievements as a 'man' as a human being! True, true Legend in my eyes. Where the guy got the strength from god only knows. A true inspiration.

| A book of condolences is expected to be at the KC retail store from Wednesday for supporters to add messages.
James Clark just said on Radio Humberside that it's hoped that a memorial service will be held on Sunday 1st December (didn't mention the venue).

| A true hero both on and off the pitch.
Granada News ran a nice feature tonight on Steve Prescott with commentary from Paul Sculthorpe who was obviously upset. It was good to see a Hull FC shirt displayed as part of St Helens' Town Hall commemoration to Steve.

| Although everyone knew this news would eventually arrive, it was still a big shock to hear of his passing a couple of hours before Saturdays game, it was a moving occasion at the KC, with the spontaneous applause being a more fitting tribute to the man and his memory.
Condolences to family and friends.
RIP Steve Prescott - LEGEND

| Quote ="Mike Smith"[uSmith pays tribute to Prescott[/u
Hull KR CEO Mike Smith has paid tribute to Steve Prescott who sadly passed away last weekend.
The former St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield fullback battled terminal stomach cancer for seven years and became an inspiration to many as he took on a series of gruelling challenges to raise money for charity despite his illness.
Smith was heavily involved in the organisation of the ‘Rumble on the Humber’ boxing event back in 2007 which saw Lee Radford and Stuart Fielden step into the ring in aid of Prescott and his family.
The Steve Prescott Foundation was then founded a few months after that and Smith says it was a privilege to have known someone he describes as the most courageous and humble person he’s ever met.
“Steve battled against the illness with tremendous courage, dignity and an incredibly positive attitude,” he said. “When we put the ‘Rumble on the Humber’ together we thought the response would be good, but it was actually phenomenal. Of course, everyone wanted to see the boxing but really the people who were there were there for Steve, which tells you a lot about the impact he had on people as a rugby league player and a person.
“The challenges that he took on for his Foundation were extremely tough and the fact that he managed to get through them despite his illness was incredible really. Steve didn’t know how to quit and I think most of us could only stand back and admire the way he went about his life in the past six or seven years.
“The word courageous doesn’t do him justice as he went over and above that with the things he achieved. He was also a tremendous rugby league player and the reaction to his passing from within the game shows the esteem he was held in by players, coaches, officials and supporters.
“We all support our own club but rugby league is also a very close-knit family and Steve brought that family together through the amazing things that he did for charity. He’ll be very sadly missed by everybody and on behalf of everyone at Hull Kingston Rovers I’d like to pass on our sincerest condolences to his family and friends at this very difficult time.”'"
