Who knows?! Money talks and Pearson has lots of it. Maybe Widdop has some family still over here and he's missing em and would like to come back home

Widdop fits the criteria we are looking to fill however, i'm starting to think we'll stick with Seymour

Cant think there would be enough cash to make him move from Oz given his current stock in the NRL, there is more likely he has regretted saying he is British as he would i believe be knocking on an Oz test door etc if he had not IMO

IIRC Widdop emigrated with his family when he was only around 14, so probably thinks of Oz as home by now. Can't see him coming back to live in UK, if Finch takes his spot at 6, will probably move position or sign for amother NRL club. Plus there would be a big salary drop to come to SL

We don't need another 6 although I'd take Widd'OP' (as the Aussies pronounce) over Holdsworth every day of the year.

Maybe we have a catch 22 situation... Pearson will spend transfer money to a big name if we get 10k pass sales, however we might not sell 10k without another big name?!

Are they really on that much more than Uk based players? Wasn't long ago it was said that the OZ players only came here for a good pay day before retirement.

The NRL cap has increased significantly, and the £ to AUS$ isn't anywhere near what it was.

Exchange rate has moved massively against us in recent years and their salary cap is going up significantly due to a big TV deal

Sam Burgess' contract details were out in the public domain, in his forth year he was on about 400k (2013) he's just signed a new deal and has been one of Souths stand out performers. He'll be on massive money.

The silence for me is a big concern aswell if we have players already signed just let them out in the open.
It might sound daft but maybe he has realised it isn't easy buying players as it his in football because in football all you have to do is splash cash and bang the player has signed.
