The rumour that no Super League matches will be shown on Australian TV this season looks like turning to fact. Cannot remember this ever happening in the past. Even more galling for Aussie Super League fans is that Fox has just signed a deal to screen it on USA cable TV until 2014 and Fox in Aus are not interested together with any of our other channels. Will really miss the weekly couple of matches that were shown in past seasons.

In fairness to Fox the cable coverage in the USA has 40 million subscribers and could attract more to the game but I just feel a little left out!

You are indeed correct, Channel 0ne has no money to spend on SL and haven't even asked the RFL if they can have it for a year on trial.

Considering the Stobart deal the Rfl would go with it, but haven't approached One at all.

Personally, I hope we dont sign Ellis, he is a class player - but we already have Westerman,Tickle and Manu.

I feel, our salary cap space needs to be used more wisely, (a right centre,stand off, and two props
are more a priority than another backrower,) not just to attract more people through the turnstiles.

Tickle to replace Ogre at prop, Ellis into the back row. Dont see the problem.

think ogre will stay, moa more likely to go. But tickle replace moa,ellis take tickles 2nd row spot,and bowden hopefully show enough that we wont need to spend on a prop saving some extra cash for a super duper centre!

Problem we have with this Ellis signing is David Howes, he is a rank Red and white. Doubt he will be trying to persuade Ellis to sign for us.

well we seem to have plenty on the books through him including the coach who was linked to the rovers job! plus if we got Ellis it'll be expensive n a fair percentage would be in his pocket so i bet club loyalty wouldnt come into it much!

Don't like that idea much. Moa gives us some impact, Tickle is more of a grafter. If Sam goes, we need a like for like replacement.

IMO Ellis would obviously be a very good signing individually, as well as a very strong signal of intent, but I would wonder what sort of an impact it would have on our other recruitment/retentions. At this stage I'd like to see the following sort of recruitment:

O'Meley, Manu and Whiting retained.
Sharp retained if he continues as he is, if not a replacement should only cost similar, we don't need a big name.
Martin and Turner out, new centre in (unless Turner's defence improves significantly during the season).
Someone like Paul Johnson to replace Moa, presuming he goes home.

I would have thought that overall that would be a similar wage cost (if not an increase), so it would leave Aspinwall & Burnett's wage + the £60k to sign Ellis (which I'm not convinced would be enough), and arguably still leaves us a prop short depending upon Tickle, Bowden or Green. It's a big decision IMO.
