Quite true, but any legal adviser worth his salt would have urged caution. No one in UKBA in Croydon can say what the visa officer in Manila will do, or the officer on the desk at the airport. It's their decision, not the decision of the person in HQ that someone spoke to. Been doing my job too long to trust what anyone tells me over the phone.

Falling off the wagon is one thing (often expected from alcoholics considering the recovery rate is only 35%), committing a crime which endangers life because you fall off the wagon is another thing. Not sure what is shameful here tbh, the fact people do not want a player from the other side of the world who will be on mega bucks and has been sacked from 2 previous clubs and recently committed an alcoholic related crime. Of course most if not every-one hopes that he or any-one else in his position receive the correct help, not sure flying half way around the world to live in a strange country is what he needs right now.

Or, having failed to replace Paul Cooke since 2007, 13000 FC fans who spend time, energy and hard-earned cash on following the club, deign to show a bit of annoyance that our umpteenth risky half back signing in 5 years has, perhaps predictably, shown a bit of his previous form but ramped it up a level to a crime that could easily have resulted in a fatality, and this now, yet again, threatens our season. A shame for him personally, but I'm not ashamed to express my disappointment at the consequences.

Very different culture in New Zealand, I don't agree with it but drink driving isn't viewed in the same way it is in England.
