thanks.
I am awaiting the "so, you just bury your head in the sand brigade" claiments soon. You know the one who think anyone cares less if they go to the games or don't.
Same type of person who would, rather than go to the ground to see the game live, prefer to go to the pub to watch it despite the fact that tehy moan insessently about beer prices going up. The word fickle doesn't really do them justice.

| Quote ="Mild mannered Janitor"Just how many clubs come out and offer apologies for defeats? It only happens when a team get completely dicked.
Judging by a fair few comments on this forum, there are a lot of fans who couldn't give a flying about the club or some of the players.
In any kind of weather, my ar$e. Its those of us who have been though all kinds of "weather" who understand the situation. Just face facts, we are not as good as some would like us to be.'"
Do you feel we have a team who are "tenth" best.. on paper? Also, do you feel losing to a team whose only won 1 home game in the last year isn't embarrassing?

What do my kids have to do with it, deary me. It's not an inability to speak, it's his local dialect. It's no different to an aussie saying g'day.

| Quote ="Mild mannered Janitor"To say we deserve better I think is going a bit too far to be fair Dave. Its like every fan of every club saying their team should win a trophy as they personally have gone through thick and thin.
I am old enough to remember the late 70's and 80's when in Football, Liverpool swept the board with annual ease. Man utd had a far bigger fan base but just accepted the fact that another team were far better (on the whole).
All anyone can really ask for is a bit of consistancy from the top table. That has not happend. As has been pointed out, Agar has had more chances than Sharp, Kear, Walsh and Tony Gordon put together.
To this day I find it hard to fathom that some who live close enough to go, claim to be a life long fan yet would rather cut their noses off to spite their own face by not attending. It sort of makes the "any kind of weather" line a little redundent.'"
The irritating thing, though, compared, say, to the era of Walsh, is that the club is operating in the best off-the-field shape probably of its existence. The squad, IMO, is the best it's been for a few seasons. It's the disappointment of having the same win ratio this season as Wakefield and no play-off win since 2007 that causes enough frustration at unfulfilled potential for people to consider not going. When we were crap in all aspects, I remember the annual pilgrimage to Knowsley Road when the only unknown was whether it would be 40,50 or 60 points conceded. I actually feel more disinclined to go now than I did then, as I feel the club continue to promise the earth and deliver the square root of bugger all on the pitch. I'll pi$$ and moan on here and continue to go. But for those for whom £24 a game means a fair bit of compromise to get there, I can't say I blame them for disengaging, particularly when the club's CEO addresses the concerns of the fans questioning a 3 from 13 win ratio with a commentary that amounts to "put up or shut up."

Rubbish. So we shouldn't order "patties" in chip shops or ride our bikes down the "ten-foots"? Or fish for "tiddlers"?
Paul M is right on this one. There's plenty of other things to berate Agar on, all of which will give our "not good enough" argument far more credence than picking on his dialect. That merely undermines the strength of perfectly valid criticisms and only serves to make the ridiculers look like small minded bigots.

But if you wanted to order your patty in a ten-foot or ride your bike in a chippy, we'd think you were barmy.
It's not the word, it's how it is used. Many are criticised for using long words in the wrong context, we're talking here of a word that is all of two letters long

If that's abuse in your eyes, I'd hate to see how you react to [iactual[/i abuse. I'd agree that some of the comments on here calling him a 'fooking nob' and suchlike constitute abuse, but mocking his misuse of the word 'us' doesn't even come close. It's no different to Spitting Image's portrayal of, say, John Prescott. They chose to mock his accent and way of speaking as well as his politics. It happens.

Why are they 'cutting off their noses to spite their own face'? Maybe they're just fed up of being fobbed off about our poor form and have decided to spend their money and time elsewhere. It costs a lot of money to attend a match, and the club aren't delivering value.
We [ido[/i deserve better. I don't expect that we should win a trophy every season - or even every two or three seasons. What I do expect is that we're able to compete with all the other clubs who have the same sort of expenditure on players that we have. We haven't had that for long enough, and it's wrong. People's loyalty will only go so far and it has been stretched to the limit over the last few seasons.

| The way Agar sounds makes the club look amateurish. It's not his accent, it's the misuse of language which is either lazy or a lack of basic education. Neither are qualities.
