=#0000FFThis is by no means just a dig at us, as the same can be said for alot of the teams in SL.
Can it? Evidence?
=#800080Last night the Wigan Warriors team arrived at the 'Village' on Priory Park in preparation for their game tonight, and it got me thinking about how their club ethos changed under Maguire, which has led to them winning the SL after struggling for so long. Theyve also obviously got a strict club behaviour policy and Gleeson showed that they arent scared to follow through with it.
Wigan have been coming over the night before to games in Hull for many years. We have let several players go who refused to toe the line and sacked one for a breach of rules. Gleeson was not sacked by Wigan. So we appear to be on a level footing with Wigan on that one.
=#BF4080We've all probaly seen and in some cases overtook the Hull FC Team Coach on regular occasions going to away games, and seen them after the game tucking into a KFC at a service station
maybe overtaken the coach (can't remember for a few years though) - never seen the KFC thing. Your post suggests this is a regular occurence. I would have expected more posters to be supporting you with evidence of lots of other occasions with you if it were such a commonplace thing.
=#FF0000add to this signing Gleeson (Great player yes, but carries far too much baggage) .
So you're dismissing one of the finest centres in the world when he has never breached any of our club rules but has been told (if Agar's guotes are to be believed) that he has been clearly told that he must adhere to the club's code of conduct or he'll be out? And FC have recent proof that they mean it.
=#0000BFand we start to look in comparison, more like a Saturday pub team
and back to your opening line "This is by no means just a dig at us". Surely if you meant other clubs as well you would have said "the other n teams start to look in comparison..."
=#8080BFSo is it time we took a leaf out of Wigans, and most decent League Football sides books?
As half the time preparation and looking the part can be half the battle.
We already do. You just choose not to believe it.

To be fair, he called the fact that Gleeson wouldn't be signing for us a few days before he took up that contract with the NRL club.

| Quote ="downtheante"Let's face it this thread is just more nonsense aimed at undermining the team.
Nowadays, the individual training regimes, the diets and overall professionalism of the Hull FC team (and other SL teams) is extremely good.
So occasionally, the team coach is overtaken by supporters. So what? Perhaps the management are looking to save money in these austere times. How much does it cost to put the team, reserves and other staff up for the night? And do we know whether the Hull team go over a day early for the longer distances such as Quins, Wigan, Wire etc but not for the closer ones? Perhaps they should stay over in Hull somewhere for the derby (there's a nice hotel in Shorpe I think)?'"
It's an interesting debate though. Do we strive to make a profit by cutting corners which could have a detrimental effect on the field whilst other teams take a financial hit but prepare better?
I wasn't aware that rovers stayed over on the lancashire trips. Not heard that we do but it must make for better preparation

So I understand...
Does it warrant yet another anti-FC thread on the FC board several weeks after it occurred?
And is this a regular occurrence? And can someone tell me how it falls outside of their strictly controled diets? Although, I must admit last time I saw them (the Bradford game) they all looked like Chubby Mikey and had run out of energy after 40 minutes.
The whole premise of this thread is just tosh.

I am pretty sure the team do stop over for longer distance trips. But the opening thread leads the reader to believe that they don't. Anyone have any facts either way?.... not FACTS obviously.

I could see some of your points, until you described Gleeson as one of the finest centres in the world.
If you believe that the level of professionalism at the club is as it should be then thats your opinion, my opinion is that it isnt - and once again 'in my opinion' its a contributing factor into the reason this club has been going backwards for a long time now.

The timing does seem a little odd. Maybe the OP felt it was necessary to counter Expro's unashamed pubic masturbation last night with something negative.

I counted 128 posts from expro in 43 minutes last night. Must have been quite a feat knocking one out over his picture of gleeson whilst posting in such a prolific manner

It is a bit of a stretch to say he's one of the finest in the world. He hasn't been consistent enough throughout his career to warrant that description, IMO. On his day, he's easily one of the best in this country.

Point 1 - I'm not icecreamman or whoever posted last night. ANd to suggest that this board needs some negative posts to counter one person is as absurd as an absurd thing for sale in Nobby's cross shop.
Point 2 - because I would imagine they balance their intake very carefully. If they have a KFC, curry, burger, pint of lager or whatever it will be offset by what they take on board in other meals. Did someone die from obesity from eating one KFC chicken wing bucket (other than by choking on it)?

You take things quite seriously, don't you? Just to clarify, I said 'maybe the OP felt that' it was necessary, not that I thought it was necessary. And quite apart from that, I didn't really think that that's why the OP started the thread. I was being a little silly.

As I pointed out previously, it's about [iwhen[/i you take these things on board. Of course the odd KFC won't be of detriment overall (as I'm sure I've mentioned). That said, proper post-match nutrition is important for recovery and there are far more appropriate things for professional sportsmen to be eating in the minutes/hours after a game.

| I live quite close to where the Rhinos train in Leeds and regularly see them tucking into full English breakfasts in the local cafe or picking up bits in Morrisons on a lunchtime. Perhaps better nutrition is something SL as a whole needs to improve?
Overtaking the coach on away visits could be seen as a concern I suppose, but it depends on how early they're arriving before a game. If they're missing out on a full pre-match meal, warm up or game plan, then it's cause for concern, but there's no proof to say this is the case.

I was simply pointing out that another negative thread on this forum was hardly overdue.
As for proper nutrition being important for recovery - I return to an earlier post... are there any more examples of this? Ifnot, perhaps they tried it after that game, thought it didn't work and have since eliminated it from their post match regime?

Because proper post match nutrition is an essential part of recovery for the professional athlete.
