obviously a 1 year deal would of been better but if it is true that dowes has signed for bradford then that does leave us short upfront so not to dissapointed. with dowes and cusack going i still feel 1 more quality prop is needed ideally fielden would be great. also id like to see fitzy named in at prop with whiting and washy fighting for the 13 position. so we could see omeley,sam moa,fielden(hopefully), radders and if we dont get another prop then fitzy at prop.

don't doubt all of that apart from him being an integral part of rovers team he would have been a rotation prop at best really, vella, clinton, watts, lovegrove would have all been first choice at prop next year before radford and galea and newton would have been first choice in the 2nd row. I don't think he ever really wanted to leave and has got what he wants really a 2 year deal and a fair chance of a starting place, every body is happy imho

Not too happy with this news. Don't doubt that he does the hard graft but I think he's average at best as a SL prop. 2 years sounds desperate to me as well.

I'd rather have Dowes(who I don't rate either). He has played in that position all his career and can do the same kind of job for longer periods of time. I haven't got a clue what any player earns and I suspect that the majority on here don't either. I just think this signing says that we, as a club, not only accept mediocrity but celebrate it.

Like many have siad, happy he is staying, as he has had his best year for a few years, he is a better player than Dowes and I am sure the stats will prove this.

A bit disapointted that it is 2 years but would guess the club had no choice and it seems we have missed out on our primary prop targets in LMS and Fielden.

People slagging off this retrention need to have a think about this signing, at the moment we only have 2 signed props, not much available in quality out there, would you want the club to start next season with 2/3 props?

All this talk about wage structures and then you go and match Rovers offer and add an extra year on top because you missed out on Fielden, well done Mr Rule
