Wigan finished 6th last season (albeit with a good run in the playoffs). Maguire in his first season has likely taken them to the league leaders and a Grand Final.

Agar in his first season took us from 11th to 12th.

Wigan weren't brilliant, but so clinical in their attack.

We are light years behind them, and with more Storm players joining a Wigan side coached in the idealogy of Melbourne, they will improve.

Until Agar realises we attack as a team ,and not individuals,
we wont get close to them.

Dont blame individual players, blame the team ethic.

Kear is a class act and should have been retained but then what did you expect from Rule, one bad decision after another.

I can't blame Agar for taking the job as he was a very good assistant coach but being a Head coach entails more than just working on the field with the team. too short an apprenticeship for mine, look at how long Bellamy was at Brisbane and also how long McGuire was at Melbourne.

Kear is not a class act for me, he can motivate a team for a big game but seems to struggle to do it consistently.

We don't do a lot of things other teams do that worries me most - dummy runners ( except when longy plays ) , depth in the attacking line , backing up players , lack of speed in the team ,sliding defence its not knee jerk reaction to just this one game but most games

Totally agree, we have all the gear and no idea, would you put a 7lb claiming on the 3rd 4th favourite for the derby, would you fook you get frankie dettori on it, so why do we employ a novice coach out of his depth to run a club of our size, but the sad thing is were going to have this for another 2 years because there is no way they will get shut

lets face it a hammering like this has been on the cards for ages, the derby win and all the other close wins have just been papering over the cracks.

Agar is inept and unable to motivate his players, and like many people have said befor on here kear went for less and when paople say agar is a young coach give him time he'll come good, balls he never is and never will be a top super league coach and as long as he is in charge of hull we will never be a truly top side

agree with some of what you said, the squad have to take some responsability. However its his squad now so it can fall back on him

Best post on here for me and something I have said in the past - particularly when we play more of our second tier players.

As for tonight's game I pretty much expected it - maybe not to be kept scoreless though. This year's Super League has shaped up with two teams playing by far the best RL in the comp. There is then tier 2 which we're in and maybe a third level although anyone can beat anyone outside the top 2 as has been proven.

As regards our position going forward we need more quality in the backs. Looking ahead 3-5 years we need these promising youngsters to seriously fulfil their potential as it is those players that will determine any future success with the rules on player roster as they are. Wigan's depth comes from the quality of their youngsters and if we are to challenge in the coming years ours need to be as good.

Spot on, couldnt agree more. You can basically narrow our attacking options down to; down the left hand side - give the ball to Manu, and down the right hand side - give the ball to Lauaki. Theres no second phase, no dummy runners, no set moves, basically no alternative to the above options.

Seems to look that way at times. Intensity is something that the coach can control - even if as in our case we have some players that can't hack it at the top level.

As a Rovers fan i still thought Kear was the best man for FC, he is just a smart coach.

When looking back at 2005 and the Cup Final you knew FC had a chance and Kears enthusiasm shone through. On top of all that you could still picture him on top of a table with the players getting totally intoxicated (edited) necking some hard stuff out of the cup, quality...

we all can see his failings, his inability to motivate his team or even have a plan b, when plan a goes t!ts up, so why the fek cant the board see it? we sit in e8 and all around us the talk is Agar, the majority of fans are bemused as to why hes still in charge, and stuff this were 4th lark, were a poor team, with a poor coach and we will never be challenging for any honours with him in charge, yeah we beat KR last week, but its a derby ffs, if the players themselves cant get motivated, then theres no hope! it seems to me we are targetting matches, and this really p's me off, we should be going out every week giving our all for a win, it just doesnt feel like a united team to me, and the bucks got to stop with the coaching staff, they can all go for me, start afresh, because having Agar at the helm is going to damage tis club for many a year
