| Hall struggles to catch the ball at times, as proved again on Friday night. He certainly struggles with decision making, does not have the best passing game and can't kick.
What does he bring to the role? A bit of speed in the middle of the pitch maybe but seriously if we are depending on him we are screwed.
Washbrook, Turner, Whiting, Tansey and the young kid (whose name escapes me) are all far better options.

| What about someone like Andy Kain from Fev or Thackery from Widnes (although I think if you went for the latter Terry O'Connor would explode)?
I am sure neither would be released with pleasure by their clubs but both have SL experience and have both been playing pretty well in a vastly improved second tier.
Surely borrowing one of them with a nice cash gift to the club would make more sense than blooding a young un or playing someone out of position. Hull have a real chance of top 4 and need someone who is a natural half back and who has played more than a handful of first team games, at any first team level.

| So lets get this right, most of you want to play a full back (Tansey) at scrum half but some of you would like to see a hooker there (Berrigan) and now some of you even want to play a winger/centre (Hall) there too. Dont want to be too radical or anything but why dont we try and play a scrum half in the scrum half position, ie Webster who would do a better job than all three names that seem to be getting mentioned.

Quota, cap, age, registration, quality, desire. In roughly that order.

| Not been through the entire thread, so sorry if this is repeating anything previously posted.
Is Webster actually eligable to play? What would be the registration process?
On a slightly different note, if Long's injury is going to be for the season, which is a highly probable, is there scope to bring in a replacement on loan / short term deal a la Matt Head (for example)?

Koshs post above you sums up the Webster dilema.as for your other post...Agar has said we are not looking to bring anyone in but may keep options open....this must mean we have some money knocking about and IF they dont bring someone in and we can afford to bring one in then Agar must be held accountable to what happens the remainder of the season.

| Would we need Salford's permission or Saints permission to talk to Matty Smith?
And what is the score regarding his year loan. Can he be released early if a permanent contract was offered?

For 2011?
I think he falls into the category of too good to be Long's understudy, not good enough to be his replacement.

He's non-fed trained, which is the same as being on the quota since they made the numbers the same. We don't have a spot for a non-fed player.
Coaches wages don't count on the cap. Unless we also registered him as a player? Which would be odd given the statements that were made at the time.

| Not webbo's greatest admirer but do remember him kicking us to death in 'that game' at the KC a few seasons back...think he would be a better partner for Horne than Washbrook.

His wage isn't included until he plays as per Andy Last in 2005.

Horne and Webster or Horne and Washbrook?
Even if it doesnt happen i know which i prefer the look of. Webster has a good kicking game as i remember. Its not impossible for players to come back to super league and still play at a decent level, Rinaldi ring any bells?

Nor me but our hands are tied and i think he could do a job and he's here, dictating attacking stratagies in coaching already and i reckon if asked he'd love one last shot at the top (he's only 30) and i know fitness would be an issue though he'd get upto speed quickly im sure. Oh and i reckon he'd be cheap!. Im sure a loophole or a stretching of the rules could be found ala rovers or at worst pay Cusack off. What other options are open to us? Not Berrigan, Tansey or Hall please as that would be season over if that happened?

| What about Whiting ? very clever rugby brain, very clever player, not the fastest but great defence and good hands.
Hall or Calders to cover the wing.

From the RFL's website:
Quote
3.1.1 (b) A Club’s “First Tier Players” are the 25 Players registered with the Club and eligible to play in the Super League who have the highest Salary Cap Values at the time in question, whether or not they have played for the Club in a Salary Cap Relevant Match in the Salary Cap Year to that date.
3.1.2 (b) A Club’s “Second Tier Players” are those Players who have represented the Club in a Salary Cap Relevant Match during the Salary Cap Year but do not have one of the Club’s 25 highest Salary Cap Values at the time in question.
5.10 Where any employee of the Club (such as a coach or trainer) is selected to play for the Club in a Salary Cap Relevant Match during the Salary Cap Year, he shall immediately be considered to be a ‘Player’ for the remaining period of the Salary Cap Year (irrespective of his primary duties to the Club and/or whether he plays for the Club in any other Salary Cap Relevant Match during the remainder of the Salary Cap Year)
