Alot of it is simply down to bad luck due to playing contact sport.
Berro's broken colloarbone at Leeds or Long turning his ankle at KC, these things happen to all clubs.
I still think we dont help ourselves by playing players with injuries just to get us through games though. I would hate to guess how many 2 week injuries have turned into 2 months injuries because of this.

TBF I reckon 3 or 4 players will play injured on Saturday and then we will have at least one of them added to the long term injury list next week.
Credit the players for putting their hands up to play and I am certainly not questionning their commitment but I really hope no serious damage is done by playing on injured.
Saints seem to bite the bullet and throw in a handful of young kids who never let them down maybe we should follow their example?

Are our youngsters that quality though?
Also, we've had an extra week off to some other sides. I was surprised to hear that we was even training on the Monday of the first week. I thought we'd have let all of the players have 4 or 5 days off in week 1 and then get back to it in week 2.

Probably no worse then a semi fit Horney. And that is not having a go at Rich but he should never have taken the field against either Wakey or Quins.

Fair point.
Time to look to the likes of Jack Briscoe, Cunningham, Kent, Nicklas etc to step up then.

Maybe not that far but if it means managing your squad better then I would give the kids a chance. Had we played Nicklas in place of Horne against Quins then Horne would be 2-3 weeks into the 6 weeks rest he needs to get fully fit.

| RICHARD Agar has revealed Hull FC have carried out their own investigations into the number of injuries the club have sustained in recent years.
As highlighted in yesterday's Mail, Hull's injury woes hit a high last week with just 12 of their 26-man squad fit enough to train.
It is a problem which has blighted the club for three seasons and one which has prompted the Black and Whites to do their own investigation.
However, after looking in-depth at their injury list and causes, Agar says he is convinced his team can do no more than curse their bad luck.
"We've had a long, hard look at the nature of the injuries we have been suffering and how they have come about," Agar told the Mail.
"We wanted to see if there was anything we could fix up but in most cases a large percentage are impact and collision injuries during the game.
"We have had a look at techniques of the players to see if that is an issue, but it isn't."

This is a good point and one I've mentioned before. Saints (like you've mentioned ) ,Leeds , Wire , Hudds , Bradford and Wakefield have all used their full squad to help them out of injury situations. There going to have to step up some time.

They need all the training they can get, not like they over exerted themselves against Quins.

Theyre all carrying knocks and look knackered. I'd have said a rest was exactly what they needed. Over training isnt going to help.

There will be a minimum of six players at the weekend with injections to keep them going, all have been asked if they feel "good to go" and all said yes.. however there are three that will again suffer because of it and I take my hat off to them ( one of them has rib cage damage that looks like a mugging victim)
The bigger issue is with a smaller squad such as ours is that if these players all sat back and said we need time to recouperate who would replace them as we simply dont have that depth, then the merry go round starts as to why we lost again and its all agars fault AGAIN!!
if the fella had a fit squad we would not be having this thread, but he does not ..

| I can see your point but letting them have 4 or 5 days off after a performance like that sends out all the wrong signals to me. Just because they are training does not mean it has to be strenuous training they could be doing homework on the coming opposition or working on gameplans etc. That for me is just as important as the physical training, also why do our players look knackered when other teams players don't. Could it be down to poor training?

The fact is we are likely to lose this game anyway so why not give the younger players a run out. It would give those carrying knocks more time to recover and it would mean the supporters get to see a side playing with passion and as Agar wont have had the chance to coach their ability out of them they may even put on a decent show.

| Unfortunately wether some believe it or not we dont have that many youngsters you would put into the arena just now, yes good kids but just kids and it would be unsafe, remember the likes of Elima will not care whos head he knocks off or what age they are, simple safety for young, inexperienced kids... the last thing the three or four real young stars we have need right now is a rough house mauling that would kill the confidence they have..
next year maybe so but not yet for most

Agar did have a relatively fit squad against Crusaders and Salford and they were still poor in every way.

Depends what you think the reason for the poor performance was. I think its a combination of poor coaching, no game plan, lack of effort and injuries.
Training for me will not impact any of the points above unless the coach changes and the training adds value.
If Agar seriously does blame the injuries then why would he feel the need to get any kind of message out to the players. The rest would be the strongest message to say that he's supporting them to get better.
