| Saints and Leeds have an advantage as their players, and especially their young players, have a winning mentality bred into them. They play in teams that predominantly win most of their games and follow on in their predecessors footsteps by, basically, learning how to win.
If youcan keep this mentality going you are onto a winner, if you can get a coach who can bring this to your team, messers Brown and Maguire you are also looking good. Do we have this? I don't think so...
Last person to do this was Peter Sharpe, that 16? match unbeaten run that took us to second we looked good for the future. I wished he could have stayed but had the most horrendous injury luck (far worse than now) and left.
I don't think Agar can inspire anything similar.

| How do we know there is no plan B ..It could be the players who cannot execute a plan B ..then who do you play We signed Long what a miss he has been if players were fit the likes of Hall would not get into the team ..How do you replace Fitz Tickle or Calderwood ..For me Tickle should not have played in the Cup game against Leeds he wasn't 100%.. Hull played a young kid at Salford and look what happen "What if Hull got rid of RA" and nothing improved ..Who would we be asking to be sacked then By reading things on the forum I thing some people should be on suicide watch ..Problems are not having money to pay your way in life ..Not seeing a rugby team get beat

Have they stopped backing up?

Has Michael Maguire signed a lot of new players at his club??
No!

| The post 'Give Agar a chance', I think, is a must. We don't have a choice. We get behind him, as hard as it is, or hate our own Head Coach for the next 2 years, maybe longer, which will help nothing. I, like everyone else, would love a proven world class coach, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. If we manage to get behind him and the team everyone knows it would help on the pitch if we're singing and cheering them rather than moaning about this player and that player been past it or never had it, they're all super league players and most of all they're Hull players. Come on U 'Ulllllll. We've seen glimpses of it this season, its definitely there waiting to come back out.

Sorry matey but that really doesn't wash, if the likes of Longy, Berrigan and Fitz for example, can't execute the plan, then quite simply the plan is either way too complicated or hopelessly ineffective. As with all plans and set pieces, some times they come off, some times they don't, I've yet to see any evidence of a plan B, never mind whether it comes off or not. Unfortunately, Agar has all the attributes of a vastly inexperienced coach, who is barely treading water and it seems to me also that some of the senior players are way too close to Agar, ala the Aussie mafia over at Caravan Park.
Anyone who has played the game will know how much the older members of any team can influence the coach or manager, and rightly so they should use their playing experiences. However, I think that some of the players have been playing on whilst injured or returning from injury too early, which if its possibly your last season or penultimate season, you'd want to play as much as you can [ie.g.[/i Fitz and Longy, however, this is not the best for the team and it shows weak man management, and undermines respect that the younger players should automatically have for the coach. I think as the older players will get away with a lot, they'll say he's a 'top man', the younger lads will inevitably be less generous.
At this level Agar, whilst showing a charming front to the board, media and senior staff, is lacking in man management skills and is tactically naive as well as hugely inexperienced. To my mind he's had his chance, and I'm disgusted at the way our CEO and co have failed to consider his record to date when awarding him his extended contract. This was nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction to speculation that he was a leading candidate for the England post (no doubt put about by Agar himself ).
I am a faithful fan, I've always spent my hard earned on the black and whites, have many shirts, seen many great games and finals (and some not so great), fortunately, and whilst I'm not opposed to the Friday night games, I opted (due to work committments) not to renew my season pass, so for the last couple of seasons, its actually cost me more to watch my home town club. But until the board recover their cahona's or Kath drops out her 'love eggs', I'll be picking and chosing which match I'm going to, which looking at the forthcoming fixture list hardly sets the pulse racing.
I am a long suffering fan, entitled to my opinion and certainly entitled to reserve my cash for a better and more entertaining way of spending it, which won't be at the black and white cash cow for some time it seems.

I'm still not sure exactly what aspects of Agar's role he fulfils so exceptionally that a board of business people are prepared to overlook a shocking win ratio to award a 2 year contract extension. Rule keeps saying on KCFM "It's a results business", yet the consequence of failing to deliver any results appears to be more money and security. Baffling.

| I'm watching Saturdays game back for the first time and I'm speechless...makes me feel sick how bad we are!
Are the players trying to get Agar sacked?! Kear suffered a similar performance in the drubbing by Saints...and he was sacked.
Where is Sean Long? What's happened to the 'Captains blog'? The silence is deafening!
It's not too late Kath...do what the fans (and probably the players) want, and sack him!
Anybody else find it strange that no players have come out and reassured fans?

Its got past that, the board have proved that by giving Agar an extension they have no desire or interest in the on field performances or pushing on as a club and are willing just to exist making a profit, assuming that we still turn up with this attitude and the "In any kind of weather" attitude, but this will damage the club in the longer term, in my opinion we have to act now.

Sorry, but ' today' it is because of this type of mentality, that we have a board that decides to abuse the loyalty of the fans.
I have supported the FC since 1960, and been quite willing to accept the bad times as well as the good times. But this is not like other (more natural) bad times. This is a self induced bad time by the board, that can be so easily remedied. Everything else at the club is good, and we are so positioned, that we should ' today' be enjoying 'the good times'

| Thought we already had. I thought there was enough evidence last summer to show he wasn't up to the job. The final test should have been the first three months of this season. However, someone decided to give him a contract.
Time to go Agar! He should resign with embarassment for asking for a contract extension, never mind signing it.... now there's a thought... has anyone checked?

| I think the least the board should do is make a public statement, telling us what they see in agar, the improvements they feel he has made at the club and the rationale for extending his contract at a point where it didn't make sense to pretty much any of their fan base. I'd also like to know where they expect to be at the end of his contract in playing terms and what we can expect in the intervening period.
Won't happen of course and those who were originally applauding the club's PR machine will see it for what it really is

I agree with your first point. Although I suspect their expectations of where we will be in playing terms in 2 years time will either be realistic based on evidence of Agar's influence so far and therefore disappointing (scrapping for a low play-off place), or deluded if they claim we'll be better than that, particularly if the intention includes such gems as using a quota spot on a 2 year deal for Galea.
On the PR machine point, the purpose it is to manufacture a feelgood factor and sell season tickets and merchandise. Pretty much a good job done there. Given the reality vs the spin, though, they'll have a job to replicate this later this year.

2 excellent wins against very poor opposition i should hope we are beating a Catalan side who have managed just 2 league wins all season and a Cas side who have just lost a player in a key position.

You seem almost disappointed that we won
We beat Cats comfortably and the scoreline flattered them as it did Cas today.
We have lost 3 matches against poor teams (Crusaders, Salford and Quins) so surely the last two matches represent an improvement?

| I will take a bad win anytime over a loss, I am over the moon we have now moved 4 points clear of the other lot and that is alright for me.
If we won by 1 point I would be happy 2 points is 2 points.

| Some folks seem dissapointed we won. Agar got em up for it, we came out fired up and played well, then by the players own faults they drifted away from the game plan and made some stupid mistakes. Agar got them in the dressing room and they came out back on focus and turned it round in ten minutes. The score flattered Cas, we played well for about 55 minutes. I have been the first to complain about Agar, but not this week, in my opinion he did little wrong. Except when the team itself got a bit 'heady' we nullified their attack and beat them in the forwards. I would have accepted 4th this week after that game at Murryfield. Agar won't be going anyway soon, so we might as well get behind the team.
I'll be complaining about him in the future there is no doubt but this week Its a bit harsh in my oppinion.

| The OP reported about the confidence the players seem to have in Agar. What would they think if they saw supporters wearing "Agar out" shirts? I am not Agar's biggest fan and I certainly think it was wrong to extend his contract so early in the season. However it looks like he is going to be around for the forseeable future so we have to get behind the team [uand[/u the coach.

| Over half way through the season and we are 4th, could easily be 7th and we might be in two weeks time but he has us challenging in the right area of the table and with players coming back to fitness then so far he is doing what he was asked to do.
