Yes I'm sure, we need a blend of young potential and experienced players and at the moment our backline for 2009 doesn't have too much experience in depth.

A player that will go looking for work if it doesnt come his way. Not a world beater but im quite pleased with this signing.

We made a big fuss and celebrated when both Blacklock and Sing were signed, and at times they showed some great pace. Yet bot of these players were former top NRL players -with Sing having really top pedegree.

I think we should celebrate the sigining of Calderwood in the same vien. Afterall, if we signed an Aussie winger who had been top try scorer in any season in the NRL, we would be shouting from the rooftops, even if his recent form hadn't been quite up to much.

With Calderwood, we forget that it was only 3 seasons ago that he topped the scoring charts, and although he didn't find that form at Wigan, he has performed pretty well this season. Yet because we see British players week in week out, we tend to look at recent form only, compared to when we look at Aussie signings when we assess their performance over a career. Lets give the Brits we sign the same applause we give the aussies

No, you're right! Everything's fine, we never make poor signings and this one will make me eat my words. We will storm to the top of the Super League next year, winning the Challenge cup, the minor premiership and the grand final and Calderwood will undoubtedly finish top of the tryscoring charts. Dykes will start every single game and declare he's so fit he's renewing his contract for another two years. Todd Byrne will win man of steel and beer prices will drop to £2 a pint. This on top of the season pass price freeze will make it the best season in our history.

My god! It's not personal FFS! I'm just sick to the back teeth of us signing poor players. I have nothing against the bloke but I rate him as a player that has lost his pace. I was angry when we were rumoured to be signing Dykes and I'm angry with this signing. Believe you me, I'll be overjoyed if he proves me wrong but no-one in the last few seasons has done. No doubt if he fails you will blame poor service rather than poor player recruitment though.

i think it is personnal, you dont like that he and joleen lescott have the same hair.

Because Noble doesn't rate him or play to his strengths, Noble coaches 5 drives and a kick to a high standard and if you're not 15 stone you're not good for his gameplan.

Come on. I am not certain aout Calderwood at all. If it means him instead of developing Tom Briscoe then its an error IMo (and I do realise Tom is not a winger) Like Raggytash, I hope I am wrong but am not sure of this one at all personally.

And lets face it, we don't have to sit here and blindly love every player who signs. we should support them mind and we all will do. That said, we are entitled to our opinions

That's the point though, we don't want to be developing Briscoe as a winger. Yes he has been very good whilst filling in this year but if we are to allow him to develop in his natural position we must not get drawn into forcing him into covering all the time. We only have one natural winger at the club next season (until Calderwood signs) and that will only hinder Briscoe (and Hall).

I know what you are saying. not sure if Hall and Briscoe will play regualrly though. What about Whiting and Graham Horne?

I reckon we may have to end up being ruthless at some point. I think we on paper have a very good side, just wish it would transpose onto the pitch. Time will tell I guess.
