Not really. Any player who met the other criteria for exempted status but was an Australian for example, rather than say a PNG national, and was refused exemption on those grounds may have a case imho.

Legally we cant stop any club employing as many EU passport holding players as they want. We can, however, legally stop them employing as many Non-EU passport players as they want.

The clubs have agreed to the rules regarding fed/club trained players but legally it couldn't be upheld.

If he'd come in as a Kiwi, he'd have taken the last 'old quota' spot for 2010. This leaves you free to sign any type of overseas player for next year, rather than being limited to Kolpaks. I think.

Yes we can Lauaki is Tongan and we are allowed 5 Aus/NZ people on the quota.

Yes, he should have applied for it at the end of last season when him orginal contract ran out, but the club have been given the go ahead to count him as a federation trained player.

Not 100% but I think it has more to do with residency so I would suspect he would become a non fed.

i suppose the confusion comes in the "fed trained" or "non-fed trained", as usually you are just focusing on nationality, therefore if big sam married our lass (she has a thing for him), he would still be non-fed trained even though he could be a british citizen

He'll be federation trained, orginally the dispensation only counted if you stayed at the same club but 2 brothers were going to mount a legal challenge, so they changed it.
