| Quote ="Ellam"Think he's trying to say the fans need to stay patient as there is a long term ambition for the club and youth and it's not a case of let's sack the coach as per dismal defeats, I tend to agree with a lot of what he says but I guess I'm in the minority. Cookie was spot on last night on Sportstalk too'"
To be quite honest I'm not sure what the hell is trying to say and really am at the point of not giving a monkeys anymore. For me it comes across as being very apathetic and a reason the club seems to be in such a mess on the field. Asking for patience is one thing and would be acceptable if there had been genuine changes on the field that could be seen in terms of the shambolic performances but as we have seen this past month these issues are still very much in evidence. There are no excuses for the lack of effort we have seen recently in matches no matter how many injuries we have. Fans have been patient but you can't just keep asking the fans to continue attending and coughing up hard earned money to sit through the past month as though its acceptable because of the 'transitional period'.
To me its as if he's run out of excuses and thinks the fans will buy in to this latest PR to try and cover over the last month.

| That is such a head-in-the-sand interview and it is clear we are missing somebody to do the 'football manager' role in the club.

| To be fair, that’s been lifted from the recent programme notes, which are always bland and inoffensive (I used to get them emailed, but that seems to have stopped).
When the camera panned to his face, he didn’t look as calm as those programme notes sounded.
He must know people aren’t going to renew if things don’t change?

| I understand the approach from AP, it feels like the penny has dropped for him, realising that brining in Aussies on massive wages is not sustainable for a club in our position. I get it will take time, and in the long term it probably will benefit the club. But this is a results business, can this club afford to have years of further decline, both on and off the pitch?
For me, there is a clear missing link in the hierarchy between coach and owner, we are desperate for a 'Head of Football' in my opinion, a fresh face to take the burden off James Brett and Adam. I do not doubt the hard work they put in, but for me it could be as simple as brining in someone who really knows what they are doing.

| I understand also what the club are trying to do and fully support them but I think the product on the field does need addressing 1st, it's a real chicken and egg scenario that for me starts with the coaching.
Without a competitive, consistent team on the field how are we going to retain and increase our fan base to enjoy these seeds being planted now.
I'd like to see a defensive line moving up to meet the opposition and some speed and variation in our attack irrespective of the results.
I'd like to come away from a game knowing we gave our all.

I agree, I don't think the fans want too much with our current team, no one expects us to win the GF, home form was good upto Leeds, had we beaten both Leeds and Cas, I think most fans would be pretty happy, that's just 2 more wins, you could maybe add in Wakey away.

| Slightly off topic I see City's CEO Jim Rodwell has left the club. He was well known to Pearson through football circles and I think they had a good working relationship. I wonder who will replace him and how the change will affect our relations with the SMC.

it depends which Aussies you bring in.In our case you have to admit that Hodgsons recruitment is shockingly poor.
What we need is a no nonsense disciplinarian coach who knows what he is doing.
Without some quality overseas players especially now in the forwards the club is doomed to fail because the gap between what the club consider to be potential in our younger players and first team football is too large and will take two or three seasons to see them mature.
Its also uncertain just how many will actually come through and make the grade.
Rugby union is an area we should now be seriously looking at.Not the big earners but some of the fringe guys.
Its a different game now, forwards are mobile and much fitter than in the past and you see a lot of pace in the backs.

Probably why Adam is so laid back in his comment despite a few hiccups in recent weeks
He is going back to Hull City

Could allow us to bring in a rugby man at a high level, which I think we need, someone to tell Adam not to merge academies and assist with recruitment and retention including the coaching set up.

We’ll be shopping in Turkey!
I always wondered whether there may be a closer link up between City and Hull. Thin Acun has branched into other sports before (Basketball), so would make more sense to operate together.
May only be a rumour regarding Adam working with City, but could become interesting.

It is common for Turkish football teams to have clubs in other sports.
Issue for RL though is not only does barely anyone know about it, there's no agreed structure in place, even a quick discussion about TV deals, league format will reveal we are all in the dark after next season! FC could be in SL2 on Channel4 or it could be a closed shop franchised SL on Amazon Prime, who knows??

RL is its own worst enemy in terms of promoting and selling itself and just seems to shoot itself in the foot all too often. There has never seemed to be any real planning or action for the long term it always seems to reactive and all last minute instead of proactive. Reminds me of the BIHA in Ice Hockey after Heineken pulled out the sport in the mid 90's and went from being fairly organised and run to a bit of a shambles with changes being made to the game and league structures every year without any thought on or impact these would have good or bad on the game.

What Pearson seems to forget is when you have a long term strategy of trying to produce future players for the club from the reserves and academy you cant do it without a strong first team squad. You are not suddenly going to have five or six home grown players making up the first team and expecting them to compete at senior level from day one.Its a drip feed situation.
He also seems to have forgotten that its a successful first team that brings in most of the clubs revenue.
Go into next season with just Hoy and Trueman would be a disaster in terms of pass and gate revenue.
Your talk wont cut it anymore Adam. You need to offload some senior players(and we all know who)and bring in at least two big name forwards to create some excitement for next season otherwise the club is dead in the water

Agree with what you are saying but I suspect the club do have a few more signings in the bag and are taking their time to announce.
Losing Reynolds, Mau'u, Johnstone, Bowden and potentially Shaul and Gale off the cap frees up a lot of cap space

We are certainly in need of younger and fitter players and AP and BH do seem to be addressing that. We also need as you say Bonaire some signings that will excite the fan base as currently there is not a lot to be hopeful for and which competition for peoples finances passes/memberships will be the things people let go of first if there no real enticement. Whether the club can conjure up a miracle and move a couple of players on that are still contracted whilst not renewing contracts of some others remains to be seen.
As a club they really need to be more active in terms of communication and engagement with the fan base as since the sacking of Radford and lockdown its been very poor from the club.

The quality of SL has dipped significantly, before you may have had a Bradford, Saints or Wigan in their pomp with big name starts making a 2nd visit, now it's just an inconsistent middle table team who are either ok or awful depending on what mood they are in.
I have never liked loop games, and things took a turn for the worst when they milked the derbys having 4 a year at the end of the 00s
