He had a bad game but no worse than some of the others in the team. I know the disappointing thing for me was that Rankin was seemingly dropped for Horne when I felt Rankin had been in good form.

The prediction that 'Miller will be dropped this week' has been made every week since he came into the team and has yet to be correct. I suppose it will be proven correct at some point.

Maybe Radders is auditioning for a part on the RL Challenge Cup draw.

Thing is before the season started we wanted players to be dropped that were not performing and other to come in, so we cannot have all ways.

Although I thought Ranking was hard done by being dropped.

I'm all for dropping players, but for pivots, 1 ,6,7,& 9, I would making an exemption.

The pivots are the hub of the team , how can you have any attacking structure, if the coach is constantly changing it?

Yeaman has been terrible this season -IMO.

This sums up the problem for me. Yes, I want players dropped who aren't performing but Radford doesn't always seem to drop those players and drops someone else instead. It comes across to me that he's undecided on his best team and is constantly tinkering because of that. We should be seeing a more settled selection by now IMO.

For me though it doesn't seem like he is dropping players who are under performing more like he is just chopping and changing as he is at a loss as to what to do. He needs to decide what his best 17 is and have the strength and conviction to go with it and give them a chance and actually created some unity in game situation.
So far he has chopped and changed nearly every week, no wonder the team look disjointed, unorganised & disheartened.

As much as I wanted Radford to succeed I honestly think it is too much of a job for him with the lack of experience he has at coaching at this level. The whole situation currently seems to mirror the same as Warrington when they appointed James Lowes as Head Coach before realising he wasn't quite ready and needed help by bringing Tony Smith in.

For me Radford needs to do what Darryl Powell has done and that is go to lower league club and learn his trade and gain the experience he needs before taking on a SL club particularly one like Hull with our history of failing year on year.

Yes we want players who are not performing dropping. BUT not after 1 bad game, dropped for a game and then seeming back in the game after. It does not send the right message out.
Secondly you have to give your halfbacks a good chunk of time to gel before dropping them, even more so when you have 2 young halfbacks.

Radford is a new coach trying to find his best team within the confines of the squad he has to work with. In some positions he has more options than others and therefore by definition those areas have been chopped around more than the areas where he has fewer options. No player has been dropped after playing out of their skin - Rankin was possibly the unluckiest player this season to be dropped last week but he was hardly ripping it up against Wakefield either.

He needs to look to stick to a plan now for the rest of the season as far as possible as stability may offer some improvement. What Hull FC need is better players in key positions to make a step change in overall performance. Yes Gentle got us to 6th and a cup final but when the chips were down the same players we have now failed miserably.

I have to say I have no idea what to do with the squad this weekend, on last weeks performance only a handful of players deserve to play, same with the week before. the team is so inconsistent I can see to some point why Radford keeps changing his team. But the chopping and changing is really hurting the team and he need to decide his team and give it time to develop.

chopping and changing won't help, if he wants consistency he must pick a team that is used to each other, you can't practice moves to find when the game arrives the ones you worked with are dropped for a.n.other.
if he doesn't keep the same squad for successive games he will never get consistency.

What I would like to see this weekend is a change in the[i style [/iof play as much as personnel changes. We have Carvell, Bowden, Watts and others at prop who have an offloading game but there has been precious little of that on show lately.

When KR beat us last month their defensive line was quick up on our outsides which cut off a lot of our 'stock' (and to be honest rapidly becoming stereotypical) moves we use with second man plays. With some decent front foot offloading in the middle we could challenge that type of defence (which they will employ exactly the same again on Saturday because it won them the last game) and throw something different at them for them to think about. Westy has been brilliant this season under Radford but in a lot of ways his strength has covered failings in other areas notably the halves (whoever has played) not playing what's in front of them but instead sticking to training ground set moves which get snuffed out by fast defensive lines.

We need to play a bit more off the cuff but make sure that we push through the ruck with supporting players. This might get us a faster play the ball and then open up the outsides as the game progresses. Off the cuff will work if the halves and full back are prepared to play a bit narrower and get involved more centrally, but everyone needs to know the plan and action it. Something different is required to start with which might create opportunities down the line. Props have been making isolated forays for weeks now and it isn't enough to pull the oppo's defence out of shape.

And finally we need to stop waiting on our own defensive line for the opposition and get out fast and hard in their faces. That requires enthusiasm and drive, but as the great man implied (in my sig) that's what has to happen if you want to compete.

I think we'll go with Miller and Rankin!

Absolutely. The players certainly aren't helping the selection situation with their performances. They're giving Radford a reason to chop and change. But I do think that if Radford can get a regular 17 out there week after week that we might see a bit more consistency.

This would be my preference too.

I cannot disagree with anything that has been posted, for me we have to give players a chance and that is more than one game inn and one game out.

Last game KR halfback dominated ours so if we do go with Miller/Ranking we need them to step up.

A change of game plan is a must as well just something to counter there rush defence on teh outsides, I would go for a couple of little chips beginning of the game to make them thinks before they rush.

If Caro plays we need to put more pressure on him than last time.Catalans constantly targeted him with kicks as he has a tendency to wait for the ball to drop and doesnt seem to attack the ball in the air.

How if we the fans can see it, why can't the players/coach? The one time we kicked to Caro in the last derby he dropped it, the rest of the kicks went elsewhere.

am not one to claim to be in the know all the time but was told miller not playing, and wont be unless injuries dictate in the future
