Personally find Thaler to be one of the better refs, he isn't afraid to consult linesmen etc.

PS. I reserve the right to change my opinion when i get back from the game

however, I actually think we could have won and should have won by a lot more. Some of the decisions went awry.

Pretty poor game for me. Constantly allowed them to lay on in the tackle as well as repeated high shots. As for the Knock on which Briscoe was racing away to go full length i didn't have a clear view but it seemed ok to me.

He was a bag of Sh-- He let Catalan fall a sleep on our players take they heads off slowed play down and no sin bining for any of it and he didnt play on when Tom Briscoe pick a loose ball up that they had Knock on he should have played on ...Very poor game from the ref tonight

I thought he was very poor. I'd say don't give up your day job but he already has. Hope they left his job open.

Constant laying on, head high shots, skinny 10m, tryline onsides were a farce.............there's a line to show you were they should be you blind

At least our discipline was very good...........except first 5 minutes of second half...... and we just got on with the game. Can you imagine how long Sinfield would have been chatting to him if it was Leeds?

Twice he stopped the game to caution Catalan players while we were on their line, which just gave them chance to recover. Unacceptable for me if you dont take action and sin bin. Advantage should be to non offending team not offending team.

Yep, which is fine by me. The things that needed penalising were penalised.

We had a tap penalty on 5 metres. Before he took it Berigan had to point out to the ref that CATs were ALL standing in field of play no back foot on line. Ref looked surprised when he turned round and looked at them!!! It was worse than soocer free kick 10 'metre' wall!!!

I felt that a couple of mild talking tos for repeated high tackles typified Thalers response to Cats ill discipline.

Perhaps they weren't intentional, as that's the only reason I can think for just a talking to, but an example could do with being made to amend their tackling technique, if nothing else.

I choose not to comment on their delaying tactics.


On the other hand the game kept going and was fairly good to watch I suppose.

Wasn't it on the last play of the ball so the knock on became a turn over?

I didnt see no knock on either, maybe im wrong and highlights will prove different. I just think the ref blew too early and when Tom was in the clear the ref realised he made a mistake and made his excuse... or maybe im blind

I thought Thaler was very poor. He allowed them to turn our player on the ground after every tackle. The one occassion we did it we got penalised!

I think preventing a quick play of the ball is part of an RFL agenda. During the world cup the pundits were saying that we don't produce quality half backs in this country because in Superleague most tries are scored against disorganised defences through a quick play of the ball. Their idea being that if defences are more organised then half backs must be more skilful and inventive to open them up.

Well that my conspiracy theory.
