Well there's another 3 forwards off the market, 2 of the English. Salford have signed McPherson, Andy Coley is retiring at end of the season. And if you thought our old board were bad with announcements, Leeds 'forgot' to announce thay Ryan Bailey had signed a 2 year deal at the beginning of LAST season.

Catalans have also just announced the signing of Leon Pryce on a 3 year deal.

with carney been strongly linked to them too, where does that leave dureau?

Didnt Thomas Bosc just sign a new deal there too? Guess Pryce could play 13 and Carney full back but Catalans are stocking halves like us!

Amazing isn't it - a couple of years ago there were no half backs to be had, now everyone is signing half backs but you can't get a decent prop for love nor money.

Fingers crossed he has. Must be hard for him being paid decent wages for way to long and all of a sudden clubs are offering him minimum wage, so now his comfortable lifestyle paid for by FC for way too long is being challenged and about time.

Currently discussing another extension to his FC career and fully deserved too, lad had done absolutely nothing wrong, and is quite possibly the hardest grafter in the side , never going to go full length but does all the ugly stuff very well, similar to Radford etc

Are you serious? i get the feeling and i've only just started posting on here that you are a wind up merchant, no FC supporter would go out of there way to defend him, my gut feeling about you is your a Rovers supporter pretending to be an FC supporter because that would explain a lot of your over the top defence of Agar and average players at FC.

It amazes me when people have a pop at Dowes. He's a seasoned pro who loves the club and will be on relatively low wages. He's value for money, he's already taken a large pay-cut this season.

Unfortunately, we can't populate our four prop positions with four international standard players. We need players like Dowes, who whilst on a lower salary than the likes of O'Meley/Morley/Graham/peacock etc, are more than capable of coming off the bench and doing a job.

Some of our fans believe that because he doesn't scatter defenders he's rubbish. Fact is, top props who can scatter defenders are hard to find and expensive, and I don't know of any available at the moment.

Dowsey's defence is pretty good, he doesn't seem to make many errors or give penalties away and gets a quick play the ball. He's made a fair few offloads and tackle busts this year too.

Unless Dowsey can be replaced by someone better and who takes up the relatively low cap space that he does (?), I would be happy to see him given another contract.

Would he get in the Pies/Wire/Saints/Hudds 17? no he wouldn't and top 4 is what AP expects, Ewan Dowes, Jesus another contract we really are a charity if we give him an extension, a prop who never breaks a tackle yet some want to give him contract extensions, God help us.

Whilst i appreciate what Dowes has done for the club through the years i do think the time has come for him to move on, if Adam Pearson is intent on delivering a top 4 team then we need to bring in a better class of prop than Dowes, we already have Radford who is a grafting type forward, i would like us to sign a big powerful forward and promote one of the younger forwards into the 1st team squad.

I alway's find that type of question irrelevent? why? because i'm not aware of Ewan's contract so what's the point of me naming random names but i'd rather give a young player a chance then this plodding no skills small prop forward another contract.

So on that basis back to the current point, Dowes is an average prop forward who would definately not get into any of the current top 4's 17 and like AP has stated he expects top 4 next year.
