The cap works on an annual/season basis. If we contracted to pay O'Meley £1 for the 2010 season and £250k for the 2012 season, the audit won't cover the 2012 bit yet. I think that's what he means.

Well, part of what a pro sports club is "fundamentally" about is continuing to exist, otherwise there is nothing fundamental about it. Apart from Leeds and us, all clubs have a note in their accounts to say the directors will continue to support the club which makes a going concern basis appropriate. I'd rather be in the position of being self-sustaining than propped up by an individual's generosity. If nothing else, Rule has helped get us to the former. I agree the coaching appointment is wrong, but perhaps the directors, lording it with their massive salaries drawn at our expense, have seen fit to "add value" here and insisted on Agar. In which case Rule's played as good a game as he can with the cards he's been dealt.
