It's usually when Yeaman runs an angle off Manu and the defence just think Manu is going to step. He gives a short ball to Yeaman who runs through the gap. Worked plenty of times but we just don't do it enough as the ball gets to Manu/Yeaman too late.

I watched the Hudds/KR game and when boh sides attacked all it took was two widish passes from the ptb and they were attacking the flanks. We take too long to get the ball wide.

cant argue with that...

our passing is worse than an under 11's side. No depth to the line, 1/2 the players can't actually pasas the ball quickly and accurately and no one bothers to take the ball to the defensive line. We are so easy to defend against it's unreal

It's the simple things like standing deep and hitting the ball at pace and at the advantage line. Also pressuring the attack when in defence, that I find the most annoying.



Don't get me wrong there is plenty more things that they should be doing but don't. But come on ffs there some of the basics and as professionals they should be doing them...

Totally agree, getting these two things up to scratch alone would improve our team tenfold, in this league you dont have to be awesome just get the basics right and youll win more than you lose!

we do no question. compare this to when we had barnett snr and best out wide they were at their best when the likes of cooke or jason smith got the ball wide early in the tackle count

Without Maunu's ability to leave 3 or 4 defenders the play would never work, opposition coaches will be aware of what he can do and make sure he is well covered (allowing Yeaman the space).



Also our PTB being so painfully slow doesn't help, allowing the defensive line to be all over us.

Surely our expert attacking coach can sort this out?

What really annoys me is we can all see that fighting for that quick ptb followed by two widish passes can immediately get you into an excellent passing position. So why can't the coaches see it? FFS it's not brain surgery.

Agree with that apart from Yeaman and King would add Tony to the list aswell

I'd get rid of King and Thacks. I'd keep Radford and Tickle. I'd also allow Cusack to go as well as Motu. Thorman will go too.
I'd probably let G Horne and Whiting go too.

I'd keep Lee to rotate 9 with Houghton and here's the biggy thatw will be unpopular, i'd let Berrigan go too and free the cash up. We've carried his injuries for 2 seasons.

I'd use the clear out above to make additions to the squad that are real quality additional to the players weve brought in already.

That's a big call, I might be inclined to agree with you tbh. We could use Lee and Houghton at hooker and sign a ball playing halfback with Berro's money. Use Horne at fullback and Tansey from the bench.

I'd be tempted to use Horne in the right centre if we signed a half and still use Tansey at FB. Would give us options anyway and i think we need a half more than we need Berro. We've looked a better side with Lee at 9 this season anyhow.

I was reading about Matty Head, who played at hooker off the bench this week.

The fans were saying that how much quicker he was at ptb. The speed and accuracy of his passing, was a massive improvement for the team when he came on.

The problem is that they now have Fien

Head must have got his shoulders sorted to be playing hooker and having to defend down the middle

Just because he plays hooker doesnt mean he has to defend in the middle, Beau Scott defends in the middle of the park when Head comes on.

Think thats why Berrigan picks up alot more knocks for us than when he was playing hooker at Brisbane as he was still defending in the centres and David Stagg who was playing centre defended in the middle.

I see the value of a hooker being their workrate in defence. If Berro used to defend like that and Head defends like that now i'd question using either of them at hooker.

Thats were we differ as id rather have a hooker who is more attack minded who you put structures in place to protect him from having to defend too much so he can conserve his energy for attack.

I'd actually swap Berro and Yeamo's positions in defence.

Maybe they can it's just the players are that shi[it[/i and don't know how to create opportunities..

Horne's nothing great at fullback I don't see why so many people want him there...He's safe that's it, offers nothing going forward when he has the ball from the back.

There you go! Many (most, probably) in this country hold an antiquated view of what a fullback should be and that view seems to consist solely of 'being safe'.

Oh I agree and have said so many times in recent weeks. He lacks any kind of urgency on his kick returns and I would personally play him at 6.
