Quiet happy with the signing as Long is the type of player we need. Some may have concerns surrounding his age, but a good scrum half can be more effective much longer than other positions.



The key question for me is will we have the runners that will allow Long to play the type of game he is accustomed to?



We have been crying out for a proper scrum half for years, but just signing one will not solve our problems, we will need to change the way we play and run in numbers instead of ones. We will also have to be prepared to back up, if we don’t he will get creamed and look almost as bad as Thorman does, if that is possible.



I don’t see the need to go for an aussie half back for next year now, as I think this signing now gives the club a great opportunity to go out and get Thurstan for 2011 and beyoned.

Can we have him now please?.

Lets give credit to the board, we've asked for a seven and they've delivered one.



I agree with the poster who said we have to have a major shuffle of our structure now otherwise his impact will be limited.



Our next signing must be a replacement for Carvell.

You cannot beat a bit of experience.

It just goes to show your board has brainwashed you into accepting average siginings. A couple of years of poor recruitment have resulted in when you make an average signing its rejoiced. You had the opportunity to sign a top class S/H at their peak of their career admitadly would have needed to be an Aussie, but instead they took the short sighted option. I was going to say cheap but dont think Longy will come cheap. He is not excactly a signing to build a future SL winning team around is he ? I think you will get 1 half decent season out of him and you will be in the same situation this time next year

It seems I'm in the minority because I want Horne to play alongside him in the halves not at fullback.

Saints wanted him for next year. So did several other clubs. He may be past his best, but he will finally bring a whole bunch of things that we've desperately needed for years.



Plus we know that he can do the business in SL, which hasn't always been the case for high profile NRL signings.



He's also English, saving us a quota spot and any potential visa issues. And cap space over some of the other names touted around in all likelihood. That gives us more options to strengthen elsewhere.



Looking at the whole package, this is a good signing.
