Seems that Buchanan not been offered a deal. A real shame as I think he’s always shown up well when called upon.

Be disappointing if thats true as like you say he has shown real potential and not looked out of place when being asked to come in.

The three released are all backs.Whether thats as a result of us been heavy in the backs and some cost cutting or the club dont see them as future first team players i dont know.
Bienek is a strange one.Probably all the potential but just doesnt produce it on the field.
From snippets i hear he and his girlfriend are not happy here but when playing he doesnt seem to have the engine required for todays game and why wherever he has gone on loan he has been played off the bench and not done very big minutes playing time.
He is still young and maybe he needs to play more minutes when on the field to build his confidence and stamina.
With so many games to come in such a short period i would give him more game time on the field with our first choice forwards.
He could be good coming off the bench with Satae.

Think with Buchanan the fact he would be some way down the order may well have a bearing on things as to whether he's offered a deal, the terms of any deal etc. For me I think he would be worth a deal as he has shown up well, that said you can't keep everyone and and as good a Jack Logan was at a young age his potential never really flourished enough.

Agree with Bienek though as when you look at him he looks to have all the physical attributes for a RL forward but for some reason he just doesn't seem to be able to put that out on the field in games.

If we have managed to retain Carlos, Shaul, Houghton and Lane I'd be pleased with that. Even more so if we retain the likes of Sao, Ma'u, Jones.

I looked on the pictures of pre season and didnt see Jones (Not saying he isnt there)

Anyone worth signing from Toronto, I think we could do with another halfback for cover next season, O Brien would be a decent squad player?

With the noises out of the club I can't see us signing anyone in the short term Dave, i guess we will just be promoting academy players. That's why I was surprised we never offered Kieran Buchanan a new deal.

I remember when the Crusaders went bankrupt teams were allowed to sign their overseas players without them counting on the quota so i am surprised Wire or Wigan are not sniffing around Sonny Bill although I think most of them plan to go home.

Jones would be a massive loss, one of the best back rowers in SL, really hard to replace a player of his quality. Ratu is much easier to replace as we already have some very good wingers who offer different strengths to him. Ratu can score some unbelievable trys, but other parts of his game need to improve.

I like Savelio, but we know he has big injury problems.

i think letting fringe players go was inevitable really. the club have lost a lot of money in the last few months and need to make savings. it will be the same at all other clubs, and there will be quite a few worse off than us - the clubs who have barely been surviving before the pandemic will be the first to surface with problems.

regarding toronto, they haven't folded and plan to play in the 2021 season so how does that affect their current squad - i know SBW is being sought after in the NRL but they have said it would just be a short term deal till the end of this campaign so will he return to toronto in 2021 if they indeed do play on? will this be the case for their other players too?

regarding signings i think the club might be waiting to see if other clubs are going to be forced into releasing some big earners - particularly if there are any relictant to accept reduced terms
