| Mr Hicks!
In my opinion he was in a class all of his own today.
I seemed to have seen many matches this season in particular when the official's decisions have left me wondering why do I bother to go & watch another match. After paying good money & then have to sit through his performance I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it.
I would like to see & hear officals being taught & given their instructions by their governing body ut I know that it is just wishful thunking on my part. It might give me an insight as to their thinking & decision making & then may be able to decide whether to 'pump' my money into this sort.
May be if officals spoke to the public via the media after matches & gave their reasons for making certain decisions or in some cases not making them, I belive that it would help supporters & may be improve some peoples' overall opinion of them.
I was sorry he got injured [ I hope that it was not serious but it seemed to sum up the match for him in my opinion.
Oh how I want the officals to improve, for the sake of the game of rugby.
Rant over.

When you are old enough to actually go to games maybe you can comment after actually watching them play.
Good game from Westie today, full 80, didn't see any bad missed tackles, good try and seemed to be rallying the team at times.

| Hicks was truly awful, I thought it was difficult to be as bad a Child but he showed its possible. We really need two referees but we would have to have one game a day with Bentham and Silverwood doing every one.
We need a chance of direction from the RFL, what we are doing now isn't working.

| hicks nearly cost us the game today! his decisions at times were a complete joke and that was the only reason salford were that close to us at the end! one example being the build up for their last try, not one salford player was back 5 metres let alone 10 at the play the ball when he blew up for a knock on against fc! many baffling decisions! any wonder he got the biggest cheer when he got crocked!
lineham was fantastic, apart from 1 knock on near the salford line he had a error free game virtually, just a shame turnstyle turner hung him out to dry on a couple of occaisions
big game from lynch too, westy although gets criticism had a decent game too

| What about the away support or lack of it? Can't have been more than 50 Salford fans in the North Stand. I went to watch Rochdale v North Wales Crusaders last week and North Wales took more away fans to the Rochdale game than Salford could manage to bring to the KC. What a joke.

| There's only about 4 teams that travel well to the KC. Nothing will change that, yet no matter where we go. We travel in our thousands.

The only joke of the afternoon, albeit in very poor taste, was the slow handclap for Salford's Marc Sneyd whose injury required him to be stretchered off and who will now miss the remainder of the season!

| regarding the injury to marc sneyd,i think the crowd were getting frustrated by the amount of time being taken on injured players of both sides who were until his, injury up and running after long delays.the more i see of holdsworth ,i think he could be the player to do the same role as cooke did for hull.lets hope we can get him.

The biggest joke was the numerous penalties awarded to Salford for no apparent reason.

TBH I don't think people realised how badly injured he was initially as he appeared to be sat up for some time. The clapping started in response to the apparent lack of urgency Salford's medical team showed in getting things ready, they didn't seem to know what to do for 3 or 4 minutes.

| Started like a house on fire, great home debut by a fantastic young winger, referee was awful bringing them right into it, we blew hot and cold too which didn't help, great graft in the forwards, some exciting stuff from the backs, some defensive frailties too, ref loses control of the game, bit of biff, ref injured, they bomb a great chance, we bring it home.
Considering my expectations of the contest beforehand, it was one of the most entertaining games all season!

It must have been one of the longest Super League games of all time. Took about 2 hours from start to finish. Agree with regards the slow clapping, more to do with the medical staff messing about for several injury stoppages rather than aimed at the injured Salford player.

That's how I saw it - an eternity passed between the physio calling for the stretcher and the time when 2 people ambled onto the pitch with it.

| I thought Gentle called it right "frustrating". At 12-0 and 24-12 we had the opportunity to dominate the game but we kept giving away cheap penalties and letting Salford out ot their own half. Once in our half their ball movement was excellent and Holdsworth and Patten were superb. We defended poorly on our right edge and whilst Turner was again awful in defence he was at times left exposed.
In the second half I don't think losing Houghton helped as Nicklas had to play in the halves and I just don't think he's good enough. Andy Lynch was superb as was Westerman and young Linehak was sensational, a real blend of power and pace. He's a real find.
We lost our way in the second half and nearly lost the game as a result, that has to improve, too many pens again.

| Apart from the refereeing making the second half a bit of a lottery I though that we made two big mistakes that let Salford back in the game , one from the players and one from PG. In the first half we had a penalty on our 40 and Houghton chose to take a quick tap. 3 tackles later we'd only progressed about 15 meters , less that we could have kicked , and then lost possession. Houghton then gave a penalty away and Salford dominated possession and territory scoring two tries. We should have kicked the penalty long and camped in their 20. In the second half again whilst leading and in the ascendency we (Gentle ) chose to take two points instead of going for 6 when awarded a penalty. We got the two and then made a mistake on the second tackle after receiving the kick off , giving them the ball in our 20 and they scored bringing it back to 8 and visibly lifting their spirits. If we're going to kill sides off then surely we need to build pressure and score tries. It's always said that back to back sets after penalties usually results in scores. We certainly fear a run of penalties against us and yet we let the pressure off and take two? So often teams do that and effectively invite the opposition into their 20 where a mistake is forced and the net points balance is -4. I'd rather play in their half rather than ours.

There was around 85 in the away end and 3 of us who paid into the South Stand as we refused to pay £25 to watch the match. Charging a silly price for entry, the fact that you need to book early on the train or end up getting stung and the lack of organisation and marketing by the club for transport means you're going to get a low crowd. We don't take many away as it is, never mind with the extra factors involved.
As for the ref - he didn't favour any one team inparticular and didn't have that bad a game. When we met up with people who had been in our end they were scathing about some of the decisions he'd made against us as well. It's amazing what you "see" when you're surrounded with your own supporters and not watching objectively.

To be fair, no-one is forced to pay £25, as you didn't. If money was the issue, I would do as you did, sit with mates in the cheaper stand.

| It's not a mentality of lot of supporters are in anymore, though. The advent of all seater grounds and segregation means people feel they have to either go in the specific section for their supporters or not go at all.
By the way, number 6, if you read my post properly you'd notice I do mention the fact that we don't have a large away following as it is. Do keep up.
Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season.
