Beaten by a better team. Rovers kicking game did for us. We were hampered by losing Hall on 3 minutes, who's done anterior cruciate ligaments and doesn't look good. This latter bit not as an excuse, more feeling sorry for him. Sombre dressing room with a couple of players saying goodbye. We'll learn from the experience.

| He is not up to the job of head coach. Tonight with 2 similar squads Morgan won hands down. His vision, tactical knowledge and game plan were spot on. He played to Rovers strengths and nullified anything we had to offer.
How many times have we seen such an effective game plan and tactical know how from Agar?
The enthusiasm from Rovers was there for all to see, why could we not motivate ourselves in what was one of the most important derbys for years, is that not the job of the coach?
Agar may be a nice guy but he is average at best, we have flattered to deceive so many times. I have not seen enough from him consistently to suggest anything is ever going to change.
We need a new coach to take us to the next level, to make us contenders not the annual also rans we've become.

| Right, Agar.
Pros:
1, Excellent recruitment (and dismissals) last year, and our one announced signing for next year is also a good one, so looks to have a good eye.
2, Seems to be introducing better discipline and demanding professionalism off the field.
Cons:
1, We are still a poor attacking side. When adding in that prior to being head coach he was supposedly our attacking coach, this looks very much like it can be laid at his door. We are at turns disorganised, disinterested, and/or stupid. We have far too few players with genuine rugby brains, a poor kicking game, and as soon as we come under any pressure revert straight back to one out rugby.
2, We have no flexibility in our approach to games. If things are not going our way we still don't/can't change anything and the game continues to drift away from us. This is a key area for winning a trophy, as all available have a knockout stage where we can't pin our hopes on fixing it for next time.
3, He continues to fail to address our obvious problems, despite accurately analysing them in interviews. Our wide defence has been abysmal all year. A good coach doesn't just spot things, he fixes them.
All in all, we've probably (just) shown enough improvement for him to start next season in the job. I simply can't see him being the man capable of turning us back into contenders, though. We are so far behind the top 4 in so many areas it is frightening, and I don't see many signs we can close the gap enough with our current tactics and setup. Next season, if we don't break into the top 4, make either the CC semis or 3rd week of the playoffs, and drastically improve the quality of our attack (which in all honesty is pretty much a necessity to do any of the previous), shake his hand, thank him for his contribution, and move on.

That's the thing isn't it? A sports team's aim should essentially be to just to finance itself to be the best it can be at it's chosen sport. Profits seem to be values more by our club. I'm all for ensuring the security of the club, but I think we're going beyond that now, and happy to be mediocre money-spinners.

| For $ sake PLEASE leave the players to a coach who has the ability to get more out of the players.
Wigan were sh*t and now they have a great coach and guess what................
Rich is liked as a nice guy by the players but that is a bad sign.
Brian Smith would do me but Kearney is the man and all the players know that.
Who did the half time team talk at Cardiff ? Kearney told Kear to shut up. Kearney is the man.

| So here we go in the never ending debate/argument.
For me, it boils down to a simple question. Are we seriously aiming to be one of the genuine elite in the British game? Are we seriously aiming to be one of those sides who year on year are challenging for silverware? Are we seriously aiming to put in place an on field set up (both in terms of coaching and playing staff) which strikes envy/fear into the rest of the competition. The kind of team who the rest of SL look at as the side to be defeated if they are to stand any chance of honours?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then Richard Agar must go as we will not achieve these lofty goals as long as he remains in charge. Lofty goals which a club of our size should be aiming for.
If, on the other hand, we wish to remain as average mid table trundlers. Then fine, let him carry on because that is where he will take us.
His position as Hull FC's head coach isn't the only factor stopping us from being a genuine top two side. The squad as it currently stands is sorely lacking in quality (particularly in the backs), but it is a major factor nonetheless and one which needs to be addressed if this club is to realise its full potential. As I've already stated, he's taken us as far as he can in my opinion. Mid table is the extent of his capabilities. He isn't a bad coach by any means, but he definately isn't an 'A' grade coach, which is what our club needs to acquire before we can seriously think about making a concerted tilt at the SL crown.
This is not a knee-jerk reaction to a night watching my team play second fiddle to our dear friends. As various other people on this forum can probably testify, I have held the view that Mr Agar is not the man for the task in hand for sometime now (actually since before his appointment to the post). I have seen nothing in his 2+ years in charge to make me change my mind and his continued presence at the club will simply lead to a continuation of the mid table, average, underachieving, limited ambition which has blighted this great great club for far too long.
And that is my contribution to a debate/argument which is going to run & run until he either wins us a trophy or he is dismissed.

| Yup Wigan were so e... it's not as if they were 80 minutes away from OT the 2 years before Maguire came or anything.
Why would Kearney or Smith come here? We have the most fickle supporters in the league.

I don't normally make predictions, but I think we'll struggle to make the play-offs next season. Top 5 are nailed on. Rovers are strengthening with Mason and Green. Bradford also will have a far better squad next season and Potter as coach. Leaves us battling with Cas, Crusaders etc for 8th IMO. Our attacking shape is just inadequate at this level.

In a nutshell, that sums up my feelings too.
We've reached a crossroads and its time to decide which direction do we want to go in. Onwards and upwards or round & round in ever decreasing circles.

I totally agree. I just hope that should that happen we bite the bullet and get rid, rather than let him see out his contract. It's time to decide whether or not we have any ambition to be a top side.

| You wont do anything under him. You have a pretty decent set up, some class individuals all over the pitch. Big forwards, talented back rowers, decent hooker, classy young winger, good enough pair of halves. Should have had a much better season.

| Well if it worked for Wigan it will work for us...just like when Sharp replaced Kear or when Agar replaced Sharp.....
If a player needs to be motivated for a game like today then they are not worthy of playing in that game to begin with.

| We would've been forth but for a hasty decision by a ref. that given our injury situation throughout the year, yes it is a factor, we have probably over achieved. No grumbles from me, we have done well. Leed's league position flatters them greatly and they have over achieved given their weekly form.
